I currently have a 2005 drop off 20mm
I have a chance to get a z150 for a decent price.
Actually, what would be a good price for a used 2004 z150.
Also, would it be an upgrade that would be worth the money?

Anything is better than a drop off esspecially a Z150, I guess i would pay around $400 for one? But worth while upgrade for sure.

Yes it does and it is an incredible fork. I have one and I love it. If you can get one, go for it.

Check the Drop Outs and the QR20, it tends to crack and the threads on the lever are ripped out easily
Some had problems with the hardcoat wearing off the stachion very fast too

Well it turns out that the fork was:
"Only used on his freeride bike"
"Only used when he went to the mountians"
And when I asked who did the overhaul on the fork, he said that he did… and all he did was switch out the oil.
What do ya figure?
I also only use my fork on my bike and when in the mountains. :lol: So that's not telling you much.

Do the drop-offs totally suck? I thought they were still like $500 retail, I would think that would be enough cake for some decent performance. No?
then again I'm still riding the 01 Z1 on the 'lil bike so anything is probably an upgrade
I think drop offs were only sold on built bikes called oem items (i thinK) and they are also the cheap marzocchi forks made in japan so not all that good really.

And ya.. about it being on his bike, i mean.. The fork has ONLY seen Rough times… I dunno.. its pretty much If he still has it when I get the money in, I am prolly gonna buy it. (IF i have the $ left over from buying a shock…)

Yeah, deep penetration is pretty key. Unfortunately it can be hard to achieve, lubrication can definitely help in some cases.
From what I figure, its not enough of an upgrade.
See, i bought my bike used, from a local bike mech.. and its in wicked shape.
The fork is BRAND new.. Not even ridden.
I know that the Z1fr is a better fork, just not enough of an upgrade to justify the money.
I know for the drop off triples you can put super t cartridges in them for about $100, and then it would perform better than the z150. I'd do this, or if you have the single crown one contact marzocchi and see if you could get some z1 cartridges or whatever the single crown equivilent is.
