My TESA 4288 tape from ULine showed up. 12 rolls for $40, plus $20 for shipping. About the same price as one roll of Stan's from a local store.
I like it better than the thicker stuff as I get more stretch on it. We'll see how it holds up.

Anyone tried the gorilla Crystal Clear as a rim tape? It’s got some stretch and seals inflatables well. Probably less messy than regular GT.
Yes, it worked on a fat bike rim for me. But not as stretchy as some other options (without tearing).
Yeah, so that thinner tape I bought is as Cartman would say, "Big fat Oprah tits".
Seriously. 12 rolls from ULine with twenty dollars shipping costs as much as one Stan's roll.
Are you running inserts?
Seems like with how tight the inserts make the bead, rim tape only lasts for one time. Removal of the bead = removal of the tape.

Nope.. so far have lived fine without them... and that includes riding most of blue velvet with a rear flat and other stupidities.
consensus that tesa 4288 (rather than 4289) is the current shit? time to pull the trigger...

Consensus of one :)
WAO is/was using Tessa tape from uline. I should know, I'm the one who sourced it!

Do you know which Tesa tape? I’ve had an interesting time getting tape to stick to my WAO rims, but the stuff that came stock held up quite well.

Warm rim and tape after you've cleaned it with isopropyl. Otherwise it won't stick.

Some isopropyl and other off the shelf alcohols have greasy crap added to them. Not sure why they add it. I had a hell of a time getting stuff to stick a few times, and after driving myself crazy, I finally figured it out and sourced a different brand of alcohol and now clean all my rims with acetone.
Try cleaning with acetone, then I bet it'll work. Lowcard's warming trick sounds like a good one, too.

One of my unions leaked out of the box. Stans stuck fine. Wierd. Haha.

translate that to all the other easily produced products based on materials/processing that already exists.
mtb'ing doesn't need to be as expensive as it is.
I wonder if we did a guerilla marketing campaign across as many mtb web platforms as possible about the Tessa tape if Stan's would drop their price so they don't lose all their bidnez.
