Tubeless in WBP

Anyone have any good suggestions for a tubeless tire in for the Park?

Mounting it on a Stans Flow Ex. Want something at least tubeless ready to maximize my chance of success.

Normally run Maxxis DHF 3C but trying hard to cut some rolling weight.

Thanks

I wouldn't stray from that tire. maybe go folding bead. Just go tubeless.

Your chances of success might not increase when using "tubeless ready" with Stans EX rims.
Those rims have an oversized interior diameter, which works nicely with normal folding tires but sometimes causes problems with "tubeless ready" if they have a UST-style tire bead.

not sure how much difference there is but a UST bead has been no problem for me on teh older Flow rim

Going to EXO tires would save a ton more weight than tubeless though.

Just reread the first post. As far as i know, going tubeless will hardly save any weight compared with a light tubed setup.

Maybe look at the tires with "beefed up" single ply casings, like the Specialized SX tires or Schwalbe tires with Super Gravity casing.

it's the bikepark, why risk burping and peeling tires off rims at speed?

I ran Schwalbe HanDampf Super Gravity tires tubeless in the park all of last season; with only one flat near the end of the season (a rock puncture that would have taken out pretty much any tire). I currently have a Schwalbe Magic Mary (front) and Rock Razor Super Gravity (rear) on my DH bike. All of these were mounted on Flow EXs with standard yellow tape and Stan's solution.

-Just to give you some background: I also ride a fair amount on the Shore and I am not a not a light rider, and I used to race DH (two seasons in Masters Class).

So.
Many.
Less.
Flats.
Specialized Butcher with their DH casing. And if it flies off mid-run, just make like Gwynne.
Or Minion DHF.

I've had more problems with tubes than with my tubeless setup at the bike park in the last four years (excluding the time where my rim had a nice sharp edge on it). I run ~30psi weighing in at a waifish 220lbs if that matters.

well, I rarely get flats with tubes in the park, and have had way more problems with tubeless in general….burping and/or tearing sidewalls etc, which has led to some pretty scary crashes, continues to reinforce my opinion that there is not one good solution for everyone.

If you're not in a race…don't give up durability and waste time dicking around with flats and shit after investing so much time and coin to be at a park or out shuttling…IMHO

I tried running lighter, harder compound tires in the park a while back. I hated it. Replaced them with some super heavy 2.7 WTB tires that were given to me used for free and I had kicking around. It's the bike park, run something that will handle the abuse.

I've been running 3C Minion DHF tires set up tubeless in the park for all of this season and all of the last. I run 40 psi and haven't had any issues except the one day I cracked my rim and it stopped holding air.
