The 2.3mm TRP rotors really intrest me. I want to run them with my Code RSC. I am wondering if anyone else has tried this combo or currently has the new 2.3mm rotors and what they think of them.

Being thicker they should be less prone to bending and should dissipate a bit more heat

I was actually wondering this exact same thing, I cannot stand the sram brake warble / gurgle noise and was wondering if different rotors might make a difference.

As a YT dude who is beholden to Shimano levers, all I can say is those TRP rotors were a thing of fucking beauty.

I never tried making them work in Shimano land, but holy-hell were they serious shit.

Was previously looking at Magura rotors for the thickness too. Did a little Googling and these TRP rotors seem to work well with Shimano brakes. I like that TRP do a 180-200-203-220-223, with 3mm size increments in the bigger rotors.

While they arent 2.3mm - I have had good luck with the new Magura MDR-C rotors. They have more material in the middle section. They are silent, cheap and very durable. Much better than Shimano XT and regular Magura Storm HC (which both are not bad).

They are 2mm and that already makes a noticeable difference to the 1.8mm Shimano rotors. Maybe give them a try.

Anyone know how wide hope rotor are? I've always had good luck with them in every brake.

Per Velo News: For Hope’s 140mm diameter and 160mm diameter floating discs, the minimum recommended rotor thickness is 1.4mm (they are 1.60mm +0.05mm when new). For all the rest of Hope’s discs, floating or plain, minimum thickness is 1.5mm (they are 1.80mm +0.05mm when new).

I have a set of Hope floating rotors (production dated 2019), I'll pull out the caliper and measure them for you on the weekend.

Does anyone know where to get the 2.3mm TRP Rotors?

WorldWideCyclery and JensonUSA are all out, and I don't see anything on Kinetic, Dunbar, and BSP websites.

For what it's worth, I ended up with a Galfer 223 mm/2.0mm thick rotor on the front of my bike and with a Z1 and a Lyrik I can't seem to make it run silently. M8020 brakes (prev gen XT 4 piston).

Gets pretty jangly above a certain speed - road, trail, whatever. 1.8mm wide 203mm Shimano rotors or whatever width SRAM has in the same diameter don't seem to do this. I have confirmed it's the rotor hitting the little tabs that the brake pads ride on.

Thicker may be an issue for some brake setups.

Installed new Hayes rotors last night and out of curiosity pulled out my digital callipers and measured the thickness; 2.01mm for the 203 front and 2.00mm for the 180 rear.

2.00mm for the floating rotors. 2019 manufacture date.

A really good option that did work for me on Shimano XT / Saint / Zees - several sets - are the Magura MDR-C rotors. They are 2.0mm but have additional material near the hub. They actually warp and chirp a lot less compared to Storm HC Magura rotors (which look pretty similar) and are a lot more heat tolerant than thinner Shimano or Sram rotors for me. If you went 223mm for heat distribution, you might like them.

Also they are really cheap (here in Germany) and come with good quality bolts. I only have first hand experience with 203mm max rotor size though.

I picked up the Magura MDR-C rotors as per above recommendation and they’re working great with my 2016 Codes (the last gen model). Thanks a lot for recommending those; I will get another pair for my other bike.

I think the brakes work better with the slightly thicker rotors. I had a really thin shimano rotor and the pads sometimes didn’t retract and the lever would jam.

Just a heads up if some people want to try those rotors, they are currently 14$cdn at Merlin. I bought a few in my last order and grabbed some more yesterday. They seem to be really straight too.

At that price, it is also a great way to see if 2.3mm rotors fit on your brakes if they're not TRPs.
