Hi folks,
Curious what people are running for torso armor these days. I've only been using knee/elbow pads and want to buy something mainly for my back, but figure may as well cover the front too. I'm not hitting anything huge by any means, but falls happen and I definitely ride faster and jump more in the bike park.
Troy Lee makes a hard shell vest style option that I like the look of, I believe it is the Bodyguard 5900 (https://www.troyleedesigns.com/products/5203-02), curious if anyone knows local retailers that sell it? I was at Dunbar yesterday and they only had it in kid sizes. They will order me an adult size but if it doesn't fit I have to pay a 15% restocking fee (nope… cheaper to order two adult sizes online and return one).
Was also looking at their soft padding vest/shirt options (UPV-3900 https://www.troyleedesigns.com/products/5234-02 and UPS-5850 https://www.troyleedesigns.com/products/5230-02). Dunbar has the shirt version but I wasn't impressed with how soft the back padding is.
Since this is only for the park I'm not super concerned with heat/weight, so the extra protection hard shell offers is worth it to me.
I'll probably pick up some Race Face Ambush D3O padded spandex shorts as well.
