Make sure to check the chainstay at the bottom where it is welded about 3-4 inches from the frame. My buddy whos 120 pounds and rides light snapped his there easily.

Ya, there's definitely no cracks at least…..at least not yet:( All I ask for is it to make it till sept/oct. After that, it can live in a dumpster hobo style for all I care:)

when I do the math I get just under 6" of travel. And the 1" of i2i difference will be about 3" at the back wheel. Definitely gonna drop the BB and rake out the front. It might also slightly change the suspension characteristics (more or less progressive)

have you contacted the people you bought it from to let them know how badly they shafted you?
that would be the first i would do. I love tearing a strip off someones ass when they "forget" to mention something like an incompatible shock,or a shot set of bearins.

your frame probably uses the same size shock as 01/02 norco team dh's. 8.5x2.5 is a pretty common size

sucks about your deal though

The frame is from the NorthVan area. I sent her an e-mail about the situation, but I was WAY too nice. I'm giving her a few days to reply, she what she says. I know she can get "Pro" deals….

So I got the shock measurements figured out. The factory travel is 7.5" with an 8.5X2.75 shock, this is a unique size however.
If I get a 8.5X2.5…this will give me factory geometry but 6.8" of travel. Not bad:)

Think you could get a 1/4" longer i2i shock in there? The Fox 8.75 x 2.75 shock is very common.

ya, I forgot….when I get the frame back from the shop and back together(bearings are getting installed)….I'm gonna measure it up and see if an 8.75 i2i will fit. The swingarm comes down from above the bb shell, like an RM7….it can only drop so far. The longer i2i will drop the swingarm closer to the shell. A 9.0 is definitely a no-go.

Ya, but your bike's a death trap Mark:P
I'm trying to go old school and save some money this yr(I didn't spend much at all last yr either actually…the V10 was a straight up trade for my '02 ride….I took a little loss on the '03 Monster to get out of it though…but ya:)….well, it seems I'll be investing more than thought on this old ride:(
