The Evolution of the Ebike

I saw this guy on his electric scooter today who had a stereo built into his scooter. He was rocking out!

It got me thinking, now that so many people are accepting of ebikes, we will probably see them become more and more integrated. How long do you think before it has a built in touch pad with Garmin, strava, email etc all built in? After that,  a built in stereo system with speakers in the top tube? The weight and battery usage for those things would be minimal. Built in lights? What else y'all think we will see integrated? LoJack? Maybe the road ebikes will get an espresso dispenser like a nespresso? I can hardly wait to see the abominations!

You’re not the target market so stop being a jerk about it.

Light integration is happening. It’s a safety feature. The other stuff will happen if people ask for it.  It’s the beauty of capitalism. There will always be someone ready to capitalize on demand.

What part of technology hasn't seen massive integration? I used to carry a cell phone a camera and a Walkman, now I carry a phone that is also mobile internet and a computer and a GPS etc etc. If you think they will leave a 8000-15000 electronic device with only a motor and a lcd screen, you are kidding yourself. It will start in the commuter versions and trickle down.

Lots of people out on ebikes around the city. Have seen many which require zero pedalling. Looks like that's where the industry is going. Wonder how that's all going to play out down the road.

Can’t wait to see an intergraded handlebar speaker setup a la Sea-Doo.

Like every motor sport; faster, further is coming.

Even the e-bike fanatics know this. “I’ll upgrade in two years as the tech will be so much better by then” guy I rode with on an ebike last night.

With that said, he did the ride that myself and another guy did on pedal bikes. He wouldn't have been able to do it without an ebike and we would’ve done just a shuttle lap instead.

I don’t want to get an ebike as I know how selfish I am and that I’ll just lap unsustainable fall line loamers in the wet constantly

Maybe future ebikes could have that annoying car alarm that cycles through 5 different alarm tones when the bike is moved?

Why did they put a rear derailleur on that thing? They should have just removed the chain entirely and just had dummy cranks that spin but don't do anything.

some of the e-bikes are really just electric motorcycles it doesn't take much goggling to find a vespa-like bike with pedals that are so wide/ so in the wrong place/the bike is so heavy that you would never actualy pedal it and cops have issued tickets if they think you are flaunting the law and its pretty obvious you are.

Because they are " bicycles " they don't have a VIN so you can't license or insure them, there have been articals in the newspaper about guys who have got a bunch of tickets

The ones that even have a licence plate on the back saying ebike, but yet from a distance looks like a legit motor vehicle plate. Confuses the shit out of drivers? At least the super 73 looks like a bicycle for the most part.

You think so ? It looks to me like a mini bike or sft , I  know lots of folks with E-bicycles that look like real bicycles other than  that fat down tube where the battery is and they don't get any hassle

I think the big question might be how it looks to johnny law if you want to ride it on city streets, the site shows it doing wheelies and digging trenches I would be all over the super 73 if I  was the fuzz
