yeah, going for short rides and not having to lug a sweaty backpack around totally sucks!
that said, there is just enough room in there to squeeze one in. if i had the bike, i'd strap in a cage in the most ghetto manner i could bodge up (hose clamps perhaps), and swamp kevin's inbox with photos of the hideousness until he relented and added mounts in production. this is jinky, but could do better (or worse, as it were):

The original Following didn't have bottle mounts. New one does. Enough people complained or suggested it. Weird that the Insurgent and WReckoning don't didn't come with bottle mounts.
Ditto on trying one of these bikes. Too bad the Following can't take a proper rear shock.

don't get me wrong, i'm a fan of on-bike hydration. every one of my bikes has a water bottle cage - even my roller-queen fixed gear
all's i'm saying is (that i think) it's a silly reason to completely write a bike off. a little back sweat never killed anyone ;)

not really a silly reason, but we're all entitled to our opinions. not putting a cage on a bike that can fit one is a big fail. probably over 50% of my rides are one bottle/no pack.
With so many good bikes out there, bottle cage would be a serious consideration for me, especially if I were putting down that kind of money.
Yes riding with a pack can suck, but its all in the straps. Try an Uswe pack. Its hard to know its on your back because it fits so snug and doesn't bounce at all.

You have to carry twice the water with a pack to replace the sweat the pack creates. They suck.

Yes riding with a pack can suck, but its all in the straps. Try an Uswe pack. Its hard to know its on your back because it fits so snug and doesn't bounce at all.

Those look sweet. I need to replace my ancient camelback soon. I hate the way the camelback hangs from the straps. Feels like all of the weight is dead center, bottom.

I have a pack I like a lot, it works great, compresses down when not jammed, can still hold a lot of stuff….I still don't want to wear it on rides less than 2-3 hours if I don't need to.
I was ashamed to try it at first but I'm now a fan of the fanny pack. I'd almost say I prefer it now as it feels like a supportive pillow around my lower back.
I prefer no pack , get tired of my nipples getting rubbed raw from the straps after a couple heavy days of riding . Right now I use a pack due to the weather , it hold a jacket and such in case of a rain storm .
But yeah for me a quality bike and the money you pay I expect the ability to hold a water bottle , on the bottom of the down tube is not the ideal spot but I will work with it over a design with no option .

Even stuff pockets on the back of a jersey or the RF stash vest are a way better idea over a pack .
As for a fanny pack yup got one as well for quick shreds , bottle on the bike everything else in the waist pack and shred . Especially in the summer I just wear the RF Vest and the pockets keep your stuff from bouncing out , have yet to lose my S5 .
