There is a great debate happening within my office as to what the correct name for a fork that has 2 triple clamps. Can anyone clarify as what the correct term is and why it is named as such.
The two prominent theories are:
Triple crown - as it refers to the three crowns on the fork; 2x the tops of the stanchions and 1x the top of the steer tube.
Dual crown - refers to the two triple clamps.
All I know is that 888 is bad for free ride….

fyi the arch that connects the lower fork legs typically isn't referred to as a crown.

If you really want to get technical it's actually a dual crown, single double and single triple clamp fork… The advent of cryo/press fit steerer tubes have eliminated a triple clamp thus creating a massively long name.
