Super 8

Allrighty, I am looking at purchasing a 2001 Super 8, with 02 monster ts, d321s, and rear avalanch shock. I plan on going to nelson bc with this bike. Will this be to much bike?? or will i find it really enjoyable to ride? I don't want to get it if its going to be really hard to ride and take way to much work. I also own a 01 norco 250cc that i will use if i don't get the super 8.

You can shuttle a lot in Nelson, so that would really help with the Super 8 as it will definitely be a lot bigger than your 250. I doubt it would be too much bike. Seems like most people rave about the way the Super 8 rides, so you'll probably be happy with it.

yah, some detail would be awsome. I just want to be sure that this bike isen't going to go to waste, or that i won't be happy with it. cuz dropping 3 grand on a bike is a lot of money for a 17 year old.

it seems like the avalanche alone in canada would be close to a grand and ive ridden a super 8 with a fox and with a avalanche and the avalanche is a must and the s8 feels really good for riding stuff i really like them but they are a tank and weigh quite a bit but not any more than most dh bikes

Bring the big bike if you're coming to Nelson.

Dude, that's a steal of a bike, the best suspension you can buy with a great frame and parts to go with it.

I'm not saying its not doable, obviously it is.. I'm just saying a HT is a lot more at home than a super8 in Nelson

I guess you don't have to do certain trails , though..

So, what do you guys think, should i get be getting the super 8 for nelson, or just save the money and use my hardtail instead?

I have no problem with tech trails on the S8. If your strong enough you'll be fine. As a matter of fact I'd say I'm more comfortable on skinnes on this bike than any other.

Never. Don't want to argue, but i'd rather have 8 inches of travel and a huge bike then none and a tiny bike, nelsons trails are rocky and rough, like Kelowna, do-able on a HT, but are definitly FS friendly… I wouldn't of gone so far to say HT there jordan, but a smaller travel FS rig would be more desirable.

Anyways, just learn how to ride a bike and aslong as it's functional you should be fine no matter where u go.

PS: on the HT issue, i have rode Nelson on, a norco 250cc (sucked for those trails) and a Brodie 8 ball, which I cleaned every trail i went on with it.

For me its different then most people. People will say, use the lighter bike on skinnies its easier to throw around. But personally, I like when I have a big heavy bike under me, makes me feel good. So as long as your strong enough, I would say go for it.
