Summer tires

Another tire thread!

With no rain in the forecast in sight, we'll be riding on marbles for the foreseeable future. I find these conditions pretty challenging for cornering and am contemplating tire setup.

I am currently running a Butcher 2.6 in front and a worn 2.3 Slaughter in back. I may throw my Aggressor back on the rear in search of more grip. I'm wondering if a cut spike like a Shorty or Magic Mary would dig through the loose stuff a bit better for the front.

Or are marbles just a lost cause?

What is your go-to tire combo for the summer?

I like a fresh semi-slick (Slaughter) in the rear for that blessed time of year while it's not wet and it's not loose, then it's back to something like a Butcher or Minion for the rest of the year.  DHF on the front year round seems to work for me.

I think I missed my window this year.  Derp.

I've been running the stock 2.4 High Roller II EXO's that came with my new bike. First time with HR2's and I don't like the driftiness especially the front tire. Was ordering some stuff last night and tried to get a 2.5 DHF WT 3C (EXO) but my online sources are dry for 1+ month on that tire. Oh well, it's not that big a deal but I want that DHF before fall.

DH bike currently has DHR II 2.4 3C DH casing in the front and Magic Mary 2.35 SG VertStar rear. Ordered a 2.5 DHF DH Super Tacky to run up front and DHR II will be going on rear.

DHF front, Slaughter SS/HR2/worn butcher in rear.

Anyone running the new Maxxis widetrail tires on narrow 23 mm id rims? My current 2.3 DHF -DHR II are starting to look a bit sad and the dust bowl conditions are slippy in places.

I'm pretty happy with my DHR2 front and rear all year around, but I might be looking at a 2.5 DHF and Aggressor when the new WT offerings come through. For super dry conditions, I have found that WTB Trail Boss 2.4 have pretty exceptional performance in loose dry stuff.
