So I'm currently ridding a boprrowed 98 stumpjumper hardtail with a 99 mr. T. I'm using it for riding at a lift accessed park, and I'm a bit of a hack with it, and I'm a little worried about it holding up because it wasn't designed for this type of fork or riding. should I be worried?

thanks

As the owner of a 97 stumpy I can tell you you will fuck it up running a MRT. its a light crosscountry bike that was made for a 3 inch fork. the frame weighs about three pounds.

Yes.

You are riding an XC bike that is a tired 6 years old, and then putting a triple clamp fork on it.

I would put money on that frame already being cracked. When they tell you not to run a double crown fork on a bike, they do it for a reason. The frame is not designed to handle the extra loads the fork places on the frame.

You should get a more appropriate bike for your riding style before you need to go looking for a good surgeon. :)

Check out the buy and sell….you can get a smoking bike for cheap these days!
