Gran Mal is a "rocker activated single pivot" or "Faux bar" if you give it the common name - the dropout sits on the swingarm

Devinci is a "true 4-bar" with "horst pivot" - the dropout is not sitting on the swingarm but connected by a pivot

what this mean to you, out on the trail is hard to tell, but they will ride kinda different.

i've owned and spent lots of time riding true 4-bars (Devinci, Big Hit) and "faux bar" (Kona, Banshee) and there does seem to be a big diff. in brake jack, pedalling and plushness between each of these designs, but this can be a result of pivot placement, tube shapes, design details, etc. rather than just the use of a horst pivot, or not

the Kona Stinky / Stab and banshee Scream ride totally different for example, as do the Ollie and the Big Hit

Well isn't that odd, maybe I'm special or something but I seem to be able to count four pivots? 4 doesn't equal 1 last time I checked. Good try though.

Thanks for the laugh. ;) Sorry but while it looks like a four bar bike the fact that the dropout is on the chainstay and not the seastay, means that it is a single pivot, although the shock is actuated by the linkage. Hope that makes sense.
