Changing from full sus to hardtail. Essentially same angles but tt 5mm longer on hardtail.

Same 50mm stem or go 40mm, why do I think I should do this?

Freedom of contract. We sell them guns that kill them; they sell us drugs that kill us.

go to 140mm and then make sure you take video and share it with us.

do you have both 40mm and 50mm stems? try em out by doing an a/b comparison on the same trail one day. pick something familiar and is a relatively short climb to get back up to and then you can just swap out the stem at the top to see what's what.

Did laps with 50, 40, 35 stems while back for science.

50 down to 40 there is a noticeable increase in steering speed and precision.

But then again, perfect reach> steering precision.

45mm!

I find the closer the stem length is to the fork offset, the more I like it, assuming as hepcat says, it doesn't create fit issues.

Well, the bars will grow 1cm in width so there's that.

What is the fork length and HTA? How tall are you and what is the reach/ETT? Are you more worried about climbing or descending? It's hard to recommend a length without details....

What are you coming from and going to?
