is there any info/data out there meshing sram 11 speed and shimano 11 speed?

specifically, i'm wondering whether you could run an x-sync front chainring (or any n/w front chain ring, i guess?) with an 11 speed shimano cassette and chain

would be great to find a shimergo style breakdown but my googling hasn't turned anything up

From Krams build here. OneUp chainring and appears to be Shimano chain.

Couple of little things that probably will go unnoticed are I'm running XXTR on the Nomad (XX1 cassette with XTR 11sp shifter and derailleur) and using the 7sp Sram DH cassette with Saint derailleur and 10sp XTR shifter. Both shift just fine.

Why do you feel you wouldn't be able to run a n/w ring with an 11spd Shimano chain/cassette?

I much prefer KMC X-1_ SL chains w/quick-link over Shimano XTR w/master pin. YMMV.

I've fitted couple of shimano 11spd xt drivetrain with RF narrow wide front and sram xx1 chain on customer's bike including my buddy's
No issues, shimano does say their cassette is only compatible with their 11spd chain but sram chain seem to work just fine

Should work fine… as for Shimano stating their cassette only works with their chain that's bollocks.

As Punky pointed out, I'm running a mix. One thing missing in what is noted above is I have a SRAM chain since the cassette is SRAM but I'm sure a Shimano would work fine. Also it's a RaceFace ring not a one up.

Is GS the shorter cage, and SGS the longer cage varieties of Shimano rear derailleurs?

Running this currently. Works fine.

Would have preferred to stick with the SRAM cassette purely based on weight but Chris King wanted way too much for an XD driver.
