After cracking a Deviant in three places (both shell and foam) from a slow speed crash, I'll never use another for dh. They are light and well ventilated though.

curious how trying on one was supremely uncomfortable, but now they look comfy from a website pic? it looks exactly the same as previous years…

I dunno, the one I tried on was all scrape-y when putting it on. The one in the pic looks pretty plush. I hadn't really done a high-tech online image comparison, and giving Spec the benefit of the doubt.

ah yes, scrape-y… that's not so bad.
If it was uncomfortable like a paint can, then maybe the new model wouldn't fit any better haha.

scrape-y is the worst!

I want my helmet to feel like a teddy bear is trying to choke me out.

@bogey
How in God's name can you have 4,294,967,295 posts??

- sounds do-able.

I too like the look of the Deviant and the idea of a really well ventilated helmet. Guess I'd have to try a couple on - not a lot of shopping options here in Powell River.

There are clubs where that can happen, you don't need your helmet to do it for you.

Is there a Vancouver in Taiwan?! I had no idea!!

Nothing sums up my life's achievements like my stuffed corpse, suplexing a cougar.

I have been rocking one for a few years now, but took off the crappy adjustment in the back as it wouldn't allow the helmet to sit on my head comfortably while on the lift. fits and vents like a dream, although I am moderately scared to see what happens to it if I have a full speed derailment…

I have the Deviant 2 and it's pretty good, much better since they removed the stupid XC helmet retention from the back of it.

But my old one was pretty weak under crashes. First crash put 3 big cracks in it and separated the outer from the inner shell. Second crash split it in 2. The inner shell looks worrying when you remove it. It's literally an XC lid with a mouthpeice and extended back. Same venting, thickness etc.

mine cracked pretty nicely both shell and foam on a crash i had last year ..
it did it's job, i think my brain still functions, but it seems fragile, so i'm not sure how well it would handle the test of time for shuttles, ect.

it was also my first ride ever on it …
