ive heard bad things about the deemax hubs, need a lot of service and the freehub metal is hella soft.
just build an 823 on a decent hub set like king or hadley then youll be happy.

Yeah, deep penetration is pretty key. Unfortunately it can be hard to achieve, lubrication can definitely help in some cases.

problem with fancy wheels like DeeMax is servicing hubs and availability of new spokes, rims, etc.

last guy that brought Deemax into our shop, we sent back to Mavic UK, they sent to Mavic in France..14 weeks later wheels come back :(

in meantime, we hand built him set of Hope Pro2 hubs onto Mavic DH rims, he's still using those and Ebay'd the DeeMax

we got another guy come into the shop last week, split his rear wheel (CrossTrax) rim and busted 5 spokes on his Deemax rear wheel…its gonna be a long wait for the parts and the wheel builder is not looking forward to messing with those funny spokes!

can't go wrong with good set of hand built wheels…Hope, Hadley, Shimano, King, whatever hubs and Sun / Mavic / DT / Syncros, etc. rims..DT Swiss spokes, get spares anywhere easy to fix, easy to look at usually way cheaper than DeeMax wheels

They are not worth the money

is going big on a bike the only way to get you stoked on the sport? what happened to riding with your bros, travelling, and riding unique places, to get people stoked on riding?

fines are useless. there needs to be more punches to the throat.
