Looking for advise on finding a local machine shop that will shorten some mountain bike cranks.
I am building up a bike for my son and wan't to put some decent cranks on it that will allow me to run something like a 22/32 and bashgaurd setup. Typically, cranks short enough for kids kikes have 36 or 38 tooth single front rings. I can't ride a single 36-38 tooth crank up any hills so it's hard to get a kid to do it.
Cranks such as the Truvativ ISO Flow's work well to shorten. The procedure is to drill and tap out a new hole for pedals 22mm in from the original location. So when starting with set of 175mm cranks you end up with 153mm cranks. The excess marterial is machined off the end of the pedal arms.
I found a shop in the US that does this but would like to have it done locally if possible
