I really thought it was going to be mullet compatible, not sure why. Heavy aluminum expensive short ish travel rig. I was expecting to be stoked on this bike but eh I dunno.
I feel the same - I came so close to order a Madonna about 3 times (the wait put me off) but the Jibb is just not really giving me special feelings.
I’ve just built up a Druid. It’s blown me away, and the biggest surprise it how fast it is in rough stuff. It’s definitely not the monster truck my Spartan was, but it’s definitely faster basically everywhere. The only downside is that the extra speed and reduced travel is a little more tiring.
I also put some Cura 4’s on it.
The Druid is pretty sensitive to braking, and my shimano’s cracked another piston, so I thought a new / different feeling brake would be a good way to consciously relearn my braking for this bike. I have to say, Andrew’s review / recommendation paid dividends - they’re amazing.

If those geo #'s were with a 140mm fork I'd be sorely tempted to over fork w/150mm and have bliss but am I weird to think a 160mm on that while supported by the builder is just too, I dunno', unbalenced?

I say go for it Tungsten see how it shakes out. I changed the travel on the last two forks (RS) I owned, it was like $40 for the airshaft and half hour to swap. In both cases the longer travel didn't work and I went back to stock though...

Nah, my ride is 140r 160f, it's mint. Was a bit strange at 170f, but mostly just the seat angle getting slack.

I was having similar thoughts about my Wildcat: 120 mm frame so I set my fork up at 140 so it would be balanced.
But if a hardtail with the right geo works at 150 or even 160 mm, maybe a FS with aggressive growth doesn’t need to be balanced either? Like it’s more of a hardtail with a bunch of extra traction and cush, vs a “balanced” front/back setup.
I really liked my fork at 150mm, and with progressive geo it would be even better to “ride the front” so maybe this works?
Edit: Just notice that bike is 140mm. I’d go right to 150mm fork, love that combo. Select a fork that can go to 160 too if buying new because that probably works well too.

Agreed, but not just because it's imbalanced, but pointless. I mean just buy a Madonna at that point, it's a great bike.
My own personal bias I admit, but when it was announced I was anticipating a boutique slightly slacked out competitor to the Ripley/ripley AF, spur, tallboy etc.
As it is, calling it the Jibb seems a misnomer even if it's a great bike for what it is (a great mid travel 29er in the sea of great mid travel 29ers).
As has been mentioned I think a lot of us that troll this thread are looking for shore-capable "pseudo" hardtails more in the 115-125mm rear travel range and had hoped this bike might be another option coming to market but that's not quite what it is. Which is fine, just a different market/category.

Banshee Phantom? Maybe with a works headset.
The Kona Process 111 or the 2018 Satori were closing in on something like this. Too bad they never nailed it.
There's a few - but exactly, the deck is not nearly as stacked as the 130-145 travel type bikes.

Evil following and swarf contour are steeper but similar concept.
