Shivers or 888's on a Bullit

I've sold the Junior T's off my '03 Bullit 'cause I didn't think much of them.
Can anyone riding Shivers or 888's on a Bullit, give me some feedback on which forks I should go for?
Will there be much difference in the height of the front of the bike between the two forks?
I don't race the bike, just shore / freeride trail stuff.

I had Shivers on my 03 Bullit and loved them. Mine were 170mm travel though, so the front end was a little lower. I liked the geometry.
I think that most Shivers have 190mm of travel, so compared to the 200mm 888, I think that they must affect the geometry similarily.
Flip a coin, you can't go wrong with either fork.
I just like the feeling of the inverted fork better. Personal preference really.

170 mm shivers would be alright, i defenantly wouldn't get the 888 or the long travel shiver, over kill for the bike imo.

Check out the 04 super, it is nice, and the 7 in sherman slider.

I think having 888's would be sweet on a bullit. I havent seen them on a bullit, but one of my buddies had 02 monster's on his blue bullit.

I've had a 190mm Shiver on my Bullit for a year now, it matches the bike perfect. Geometry is great for downhill/freeride, it's still not bad on the climbs (for a 45 lb freeride bike) and it's oh so plush. It might be considered heavy if you're a smaller rider.

I've been told that the 888 is taller than the Shiver, it might rake the bike out too much. I've never ridden one so I can't comment on the fork.

Like Cheese says above, lots of guys swear by the Boxxer on a Bullit. It's the most popular combination I've seen on the trails.

I have the 190mm Shiver on a Bullit and like it a lot. The fork is great and the bikes geometry is really good.

The 888 would be ~1.5" taller so you would be another ~1.5 degrees of slack to the head tube angle. I wanted one for my Bullit initially but decided that it would be too much of a chopper.

I'd go BoXXer or better yet get the 888 in 7 inch version. Way better than the Super T. A buddy of mine has one and it's perfect.

Can you buy 888's with 170mm travel, or do you have to get 190mm's [HTML_REMOVED] buy new internals?

I didn't realise that 888's are 1.5" taller than Shivers? Is that 'cause they need the tyre clearance under the brace + the extra 10mm travel?

I'd go 170mm Sherman. Its a far better fork than the 888 7", and more or less the same price. The 888 and Shiver is a little overkill imo.

The large axle-to-crown on the 888 is a mystery. Here are some numbers from the Marzocchi manual: Super T 558mm, Shiver 572mm, 888 (170mm) 575mm, 888 (200mm) 605mm, Monster T 593mm. The 170mm 888 is setup that way from the factory, not sure it is out yet.

The Sherman is a nice fork, I have the 6" version on an RM Switch. It's a short fork though, the 7" is going to have a similar axle-to-crown to a Z150 (538mm).

the 7" 888's are out and available, BTI has them in stock. Your LBS should be able to get you one, I saw a bullit the other day with a 8" one and it looked sweet.

I think there is a picture of one online somewhere….
