Shiver on my Banshee

Hey anyone else have this prob?

I put my Shiver on the Banshee and with the head tube size, stack height of the FSA pig headset, I can get 193mm clearance as recommended by Marz…

but…

the upper crown is just barely holding onto enough upper tube. Definitely not within Marz specs.

Does Marz make a drop crown? or should I just try and find a lower stack height headset?

Oh yeah
Does Banshee spec Shivers OEM?

Or I'm guessing not because of the drop crown thing.

move the lower crowns lower down on the legs.
i ran that shiver on my vps1,and it did not ever bottom.
my vps has a 7 inch headtube/headset stack hight, and i'm assuming you're banshee is significantly lower.

IF you arent using it get the integrated stem. This should solve any issues. I have a monster on mine with this stem and have about 2" of extra space.

I could do that but I won't get the full 190mm of travel. When I got the forks from you they had too much oil in them so they ramped up hard at the end. I got the correct amount of oil now and the full amount of travel:D

Stem length is fine. It's just the bottom of the crown to the top of the tire distance that's the problem.

What do you mean when you say "stack height?" I have a shiver that I am putting on a big hit and I have a pig dh headset.

run the crowns a tad lower on the legs.you won't even notice the loss of 5-10mm of travel.just add a capful of oil to each leg and they will ramp up well before they would come close to hitting the crown.
i don't know how you could find they "ramped up" too much.i weigh like probably 30 pounds less than you(I'm 170lbs), and i the forks where perfect.
just throw in a bit more oil,and go bigger than you do now to keep them from "ramping up"
obviously, going bigger is the only solution to this problem;) :P

Cane Creek makes a headset that is 5mm shorter than the PIG DH PRO.

Link here: http://www.canecreek.com/site/product/headset/05_s6.html

They are relatively innexpensive as well.

The FSA Orbit Xtreme is 25.5 mm (.5mm shorter than the Cane Creek S6)

If you need more than a 5.5mm drop, then you're going to have to get a Shiver Drop Crown wich will set you back a good bit of money. I am not positive on the amount, you can call and ask though.
