No, it means the Blackspires are significantly narrower (1/2", I just compared) and the pins don't provide as much grip. My feet are 10s.

I've been running these (with Deity logos) and yeah, I'm not going to spend three times the price of these to have pedals that weight 100+g more and don't have any significant improvement in any area.

The bearings/bushings suck in those pedals. They only last for a couple of months.

One thing to keep in mind is that a pedal like the Easton Flatboy has regular setscrews for pins. You can buy them any length you want at a place like Acklands or maybe even Home Depot or Napa. Other manufacturers you have to buy their pins.

I would steer clear of the Spank Spike. I love the platform, but I've got bearing issues with mine. They warrantied the spindles for me (I originally had the first version), but they still aren't that great. I've got slop between the bearings and the pedal body. Brand new bearings, brand new spindles, and I've got slop. Meh.

I would suspect they have a much higher markup per unit per level of quality rayshee-o than some of the other high end offerings (AMP, Podiums, etc…) Of course, I'll never get pedals with bushings. That's just dumb.

Those Hopes they have at Lynn Valley Bikes look pretty sweet. Not sure if they have bushings…

I'm gun shy on pedals in general now. I'll either spend ludicrous money, or next to nothing. Upper mid-range stuff (like the Spikes), have let me down.

Of course, that's the price you pay when you go the "early adopter" route. They were just so shiny…

Kona wah wah's, wide platform, thin profile and bomb proof. Not sure about weight. Pedals like bars are a very personal choice. like your bars it's one of the only places you touch your bike. I'm running new saints on my new Altitude, only had a couple weeks on them so far. Like the feel so far but I think they could be thinner.

I have had my wha whas for 6 yrs still spinning great. Need to replace the pins soon. But I doubt I can get them out. They have been by far the longest lasting pedals

I broke mine in 2 months and i only weigh 150 pounds

Went from Straitline tanks to Point1 Podiums to Straitline Amps.

Can't say I care either way if it's bearing or bushing.

I just cleaned out my Amp's for the first time. Gotta say, Straitline sure makes it easy to service.
