pictures of the carnage from Danice's crash at the last world cup are up on her blog. looks like the bike took most of the abuse thankfully. so is this the result of coke can tubing or would any bike look the same?

I wonder if a sponsored rider posting pictures of broken parts is the right thing to do. Even though it was a horrific crash that caused it, people just see the pictures and make assumptions.

At least she's alright, that's the important thing.

Unless she likes making her sponsors upset, I reccomend she take those down immediately.

I hear those 2010 boxxers and Session 88s snap 100[HTML_REMOVED]#37; of the time.

When she mentions that her start is behind Micayla, does she mean Micayla from BC?

Yep, Micayla Gatto, and Miranda Miller were both racing at La Bresse

I would imagine the same would happen to any race-specific frame given the forces from that crash…

I'm sure a lot of bikes/forks would break with a big crash like that, looks like the bike took a lot of force straight down onto the fork with rider weight still attached. Maybe that's the difference, as I haven't seen bike carnage like that from a lot of other big wc crashes. Or maybe evidence just doesn't appear on the interwebs after.

I guess the main point of the post was to show just how tough and lucky she was to not get injured when the bike looks like that after the crash.

"Disposable Race Bike". Beercan-thin tubing hypothesis confirmed.

you must be the owner of a 14 lb frame.

yep, broken fork(2 places),bent bars and seat and a few other messed up things ……with that many components getting messed in one crash, it would be hard to say how well any dh frame would hold up. if it was just the frame that was messed then maybe your comment would hold a little more merit. seems like a pretty nasty crash

yea from the pic it seems like she was still attached to teh bike during the crash which means teh bike also had her entire weight factored in aswell..

cant see any fault here at all..

after a crash like that would u trust any of the parts if they hadnt failed ??? pretty sure most racers would want all related parts replaced regardless…

i first saw the trek and thought, yeah that frame's weak, then i saw the snapped boxxer and quickly changed my mind. No bike can survive that. Look at the fork twist.

I guess its better to see the energy dissipate through bike component breakage than bone breakage. That force had to go somewhere…
