Saint brakes – overkill for AM?

Just as it says… I'm thinking of upgrading my current '08 Juicy 7s on my AM bike since I find they tend to fade and lose power on long or really techy downhills, even with a fresh bleed etc. I have it narrowed down to Saints or Hope M4s (I would consider the Hope V2 but want to keep my existing rotors to save a few bucks).

I'm a bigger dude (~220 lbs) so weight isn't much of an issue to me. I'd rather have more stopping power and not need it than the other way around. I really like the look of the Hopes but I'm not sure if they would be enough of an upgrade compared to the Juicys.

Can anyone with experience with all of these brakes comment on the differences?

You won't go wrong with either of your choices.

M4s are def an upgrade over Juicys.

Saints have mad oomph. I would say that there's never been a time where I felt that I didn't have enough power with my set. I'm about 210-215 with gear and pack. Unfortunately I can't make any direct comparisons to Hope products.

I've read that the M4s have more modulation, so I guess if you do a lot of slow, extremely tech descents they would be a bit more precise. The Saints definitely have more of a "blast towards a corner, slam on some binders to reign things in, let off, smash the turn and blast towards the next one," feel to me. Now, modulation's in the fingers, but the power does come on pretty quick.

I have a friend that runs saints on his stumpy with small rotors, raves about the power, although he doesn't weigh as much as you, I don't think you'll go wrong with them

I'd go Saint and if you find them too strong drop down a rotor size.

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

I've got the Saints on my big bike and the M4s on my mid-travel bike. Saints are great but the M4s have just as much power but better modulation and wicked "feel". Hopes for the win.

Go Hope.

I have had two sets of M4s and if I built up another bike it would have them too. I have tried Saint brakes in a parking lot test and didn't like the grabby power.
The Hope M4s have a much better feel IMO. The colour matched rotors look great too.

I can't comment on brake fade though as I don't ride very hard anymore.

Go for what's cheaper. I've seemed to have acquired a couple pairs of the Saints and I quite like them, but they got little niggles that make me want to try the Hope's for a while to compare.
