Rim suggestions

Hi.

I picked up a pair of the original Raceface Turbine wheels super cheap to build up my 27.5 nomad about 3 months ago

I've kinda killed the rear and am looking for suggestions for a more stout rim. (Or set of rims… because matchy matchy…)

Carbon is pretty much out of the question (I think) due to cost.

I managed to get about 3 years out of my DTE530 rims from my last bike (26").

I was told they were pretty "heavy", which is probably why they lasted so long. What's a good equivalent in 27.5"?

I'd even consider picking up a new (to me) wheel set if anyone has some good ones they're looking to get rid of…

Ex511 is very nice. Does hold up on my enduro bike, even in bikeparks. Wide, not a boat anchor and reasonably priced, in Europe at least.

Flow Mk3 look like a pretty nice rim and get good reviews so far…

Spank OOZY 295 or 345 will be perfect IMO , I run the 260,s and 295s and they are light and take abuse

If you can afford it the LB carbon rims are great….and more affordable than most other carbon offerings. Been running mine for around 3 years with no issues…love 'em.

I was testing a set of spank wheels a while back and hated them….burped every ride and then ripped the teeth right out of the rear hub. But I'm hard on hubs…went back to CK and not one issue, not cheap but worth it for me.

What sort of psi do you run? I'm a fan of the 25ish range… I'm not a super heavy guy, prob about 160 with gear.

I killed my rear after having burped the rear, not noticing, then hucking onto a rock on Pingu with an underinflated shock. (yes, I know… awesome move. I had just bolted the bike together…)

On that note lb rims went from 180 to 250 (USD) recently. Has anyone tried any other companies? For example nextie?

My lb rims have been super good. Run/raced them for a year with no issues. My girlfriend managed to annihilate hers though but that was from coming up short on one of the homebrew gaps (dh layup 35mm).

mine are laced to Hope or DTSwiss hubs so now hub issues or rim issues .

Yeah… was perusing their site and they're not the "deal" I thought they were supposed to be.

Also, why do people like hope hubs so much? I've had to replace the free hub bearing twice in the last year after it's fully disintegrated. Or is this something more common with wider range cassettes putting more torque/side loading the free hub body?

I destroy my free hub bearings in my Hope hub every three months or so . Weekly or bi-weekly cleaning and new grease can keep them running longer but is a huge hassle. Also cracked my alloy free hub and had to replace it with a steel one.

Regular 10 speed cassette. 30 front 36 rear.
