These will share time on my Giant Trance and my Kona Explosif. I'll be running 2.35 - 2.6" tire. More than likely 2.4"

And while we're at it. I originally bought Derby carbons because I was ruining Stan's Flows (the earlier ones). The Derbys have been awesome, three flawless years. But I'm looking at a bike that comes stock with I9 Enduro-S or Enduro 305 alloy rims, both of which seem awesome.
Have alloy rims improved a lot over the last few years? The new Flows and RF look really good.
I'm on Stand Flow MK3s, I have no real complaints. I'm stuck in a flatter part of the country but spend a few weeks a year in BC riding and haven't destroyed them which says a lot for me (I'm a good 220 lbs, just me, no gear).
Profile has been nice for DHFs (2.35 and 2.5) and a minon SS (2.35). Non of the tires were the "wt" versions.
Been using Spank Oozy series rims for the last 4 yrs , IMO they are a killer rim. Currently running the 345s on my 29er and have a pair of 395s for my next wheelset. My 26er has a set of 28h 295,s and they are still round and true with roughly 1500km on them.
Check out the new Chromag Phase rims. I have a set on their new hubs. Not enough rides to give a proper review yet due to weather and injury but after half a dozen rides, they're straight and ding free.
I’ve ridden ARC 27s over the past year and a bit and find that they dent more easily than the Flow EX they replaced.
I went with an Arch MK3 in the rear as a replacement, run with a Huck Norris. Somehow I have managed one small dent in spite of the insert, but it’s holding up pretty well so far.

Check out the new Chromag Phase rims. I have a set on their new hubs. Not enough rides to give a proper review yet due to weather and injury but after half a dozen rides, they're straight and ding free.
They also have the extra-heavy BA rim, which I think was made for my Chromag hardtail. Man, does that thing ever destroy rear wheels.
What’s the story with the hubs? Are they rebranded Formula or Novatec, or something fancier?
I would probably stick with the Flow MK3s... good price, reasonably light and durable... the RF Arcs are soft from my experience.

From what I understand, they are their own hubs. I'm running the Phase with a Huck Norris out back. I'm hoping that'll be strong enough! I went through two rear rims (Flow mk3 and Shimano XT) on my Chromag last summer

My fantasy rim purchase today would be a 25mm internal ex471 rear with a 30mm internal ex 511 front. Or maybe a carbon front. Something legitimate like We Are One or Nobl, since it's only the one rim.
Actually I'd probably go 25mm carbon front and 25mm alloy rear for my preferred 2.3 tires, but I wouldn't wish my weight weenieness and barely enough grip choices on anyone.

Or just go WR1 front and rear and never worry again :)

I worry constantly about my carbon rear now though, it's just silly hand wringing, but it's difficult to not to imagine those filaments of carbon snapping.
Kind of on the fence which I prefer carbon or alloy, but alloy is piece of mind. Nicer ride too.

I think I've narrowed my choice down to two.
I have had good luck with both brands (Stan's and DT) in the past. I am a little torn between Flows and DT XM 481s

Unless there is some mystical unicorn rim out there that I haven't heard about, I'm going with one of those two.
