Riding with phone

For those of you who ride solo, what do you do with regards to carrying your phone?

I like to carry my phone in case of any emergency when I am by myself. However, most of the time, I also like riding minimalist without a bag, just a bottle in the cage. I've just put my phone in my pocket and its been great 99% of the time but I have taken a few falls on it which have caused me to replace the glass screen.

Any special ways to carry a phone? Sturdy but minimalist cases? Different shorts with different pocket layout? Backpack the only safe answer?

Serious vouch for otterbox.

When I worked as a courier in Edmonton, we used Blackberrys for our dispatch and we had otterbox cases. The amount of times I dropped that thing in traffic, down stairs, dropped packages on it..

Fucking tough cases. Well worth the money.

Where can I get one of those?

I got an old MEC hydration pack w/o the bladder so small only phone/wallet/tool pack/pump/inner tube/extra poly-t it's full. Hardly know it's there.

1 get rid of i phone
2 buy better phone
3 ride
4 profit

Bepending on the ride I will put my phone in my bag of just leave it in my pocket. I have had Nokia phones for a few years now and never had a problem. They do not seam to mind sweat.

is going big on a bike the only way to get you stoked on the sport? what happened to riding with your bros, travelling, and riding unique places, to get people stoked on riding?

fines are useless. there needs to be more punches to the throat.

Otterbox or lifeproof case + screen protector

Get one of theseif shock absorption isn't a big deal, but you need waterproofing

Why slag free swag?

ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.

lifeproof is not going to offer much in the way of screen protection is you land on it. no worries about water or dust though.

I wear a money belt and tuck it in my shorts. Mostly because I've crashed on an object in my pocket and sustained a serious injury before as a result. 8 weeks off a bike from a fold up Allen key set is no joke. You would think I learned the lesson but a crash on a key and another on a phone that had me limping for a week and now I have a strict empty pocket policy.

So a well positioned money belt over the pubic bone keeps a phone and a key out of harms way and I can use my phone without a case like nature intended.

^good idea. Pre cell days, I used to aways wear one for daily use. I hate stuffing my pockets. Time to dig it up.

Why must Waist Mounted Accessory Transportation Systems be such a fashion faux pas???
