Respect the paint

Never seen a paint thread on here. Not sure if anyone else here gets excited about nice paint jobs. I was riding on adenac the other day and spotted one of these. Hers was blue/green/white fade. I was so jealous. Why doesn't anyone do epic fades or splatter paint jobs anymore? What I would give for a Jackson pollock type paint job.

Anyone know if chromag could paint my primer with a three colour triple fade a la norco? I guess ill ask them. Now to figure out the colours.....

Anyways, if you see paint you like and want to share it, post it here. Doesn't have to be yours. Doesn't have to be mtb.

Chromag definitely will paint you that up. Dove into their painting details on their website a couple weeks ago and saw some great bikes.

Yeah they will do that for sure. I ended up lost in options trying to figure out what paint I wanted so I just did a solid colour from a vehicle I liked. But damn is it smooth compared to a factory paint job.

I've got one of these, maybe I do grey, yellow and white?

I feel like I have a date with Microsoft paint 🎨

You can connect with Dekerf directly for the repaint/refinishes. I had him redo my Primer about 5 years ago and had him add a set of seat tube bottle mounts at the same time

Damn that Helm is a sick fork.  Coil or air version?

It's the coil version. I do really like it. Only wish it went up to 170.

Talking to de kerf directly sounds like a clever idea. How much did he charge? When I spoke to chromag, it was really reasonable - like 200-300 i think.

I have a Lb archive of lots of the custom painted bikes we did for athletes over the years somewhere here.

I didn’t design this one, but a mate designed and painted it. Such a great national champion’s scheme.

It gets very very bewildering when you suddenly have every option available to you.

He charges $350 for a basic repaint. Back then, he stocked the Primer and Surface decal sets in black and white, I imagine different different colour decals would be an upcharge. The clear coat is applied over the decals. He can also have the decals painted on in choice of colour, I believe it's a $200 upcharge for that. A multistage fade paint job would probably be an extra cost of at least a couple hundred bucks. But easiest to get in touch with him and see.

I can't imagine Chromag would charge any less for a 'factory refinish' if you used them as a middle man.

It's really cool to see his shop and the various projects he has going at any given time, and to talk shop if even for a few minutes with a local legend

Toxik Harald did some unique work.  He’s going through tough times though. Seems Facebook is his better gallery

Looks like he’s selling off his shop, sad to see someone so talented have their work cut short. Hopefully he can recover and get back to doing what he loves.
