I recently picked up a Renthal Duo stem…it's a thing of beauty…and it's light!
I have a few rides on it and wrote up a little review…check it out:

I love that stem :)
had one on my Banshee rampant for all of my day, until my previous boss decided the emphasis was on selling Easton Haven stems we got on a cheaper deal
so the Renthal went back in the box (!!) and got sold to a customer, and I was forced to put the 55mm Haven on the bike
not a bad stem, but the bolts quickly rusted, and the Renthal was so sweet, and a perfect match for my Renthal 750mm bars ;)
doesnt that top cap loook dangerously thin ???
maybe its just the pics..

You mean the top half of the stem? It's thinner than some I have seen, but I would not call it dangerously thin…I guess time will tell, but they put it through a ton of testing.
Looks pointless
Why slag free swag?
ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.

The Stem? Care to expand on this oh so creative post?
If I remember from a video, Renthal engineered the stem and bar as a system, claiming that stems were generally too burly and bars too weak.

Yeah I included that in my review…I found that pretty interesting.

I doubt there is really any point to the split design of the stem other than "Hey,, look what we can do" and "This stem was cut using Sam Hillium!" Big industry wide Circle Jerk, fap fap fap, loser comes first.
Do the 2 halves bolt together in the middle? Or are both halves only attached by the faceplate bolts?
Heres a list of stems I would purchase before that one
Chromag Ranger
Straitline SSC
RaceFace Turbine
Easton Haven

I take it you didn't watch the slideshow from Vital, or even really look into it at all…It's all good man, not every product works for everyone, that's why it's great there are lots of great products out there, run whatcha want….and I will run this one.
I love the turbine stem, but have heard of a few of the faceplates breaking…not awesome.

Im so over the industry hype machine.

Honestly I came up with 4 examples off the top of my head, that Ive had previous experience with products they make. Could have added Gravity Lite as well.

I'd use the Renthal stem no problem…. in fact it was the stem I considered for my recent build, but ended up going Thomson.

Yup. Heard about one of those cracking, but the guy was using it for more FR so maybe using it out of its designation….
"Take note that the instructions for fitting the stem are wrong I believe? Mine states that you tighten the top cap after tightening the clamp bolts…..this must be wrong because you surely need to preload the headset bearings first and then tighten the stem bolts in the conventional way." http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=49156
Still, reach and rise is right. And strength ain't be a prob for a non-hucker like me….does it creak?
Freedom of contract. We sell them guns that kill them; they sell us drugs that kill us.
