You will need a CC to rent a bike.
superheros
I like bikes
I rented last year and i had to have a credit card. So i wouldn't imagine that they would have changed it.
Does Fanatyk Co. rent out bikes? I saw a whole bunch of bikes on a rack outside of their shop that looked like they were rentals, except crazily pimped out. One of them was an RMX, I think, with the new Marzocchi 66 fork.
Fanatyk Co rents bikes out of the Affinity store across from Showcase, mostly Norco's and some Rocky's. Summit Ski [HTML_REMOVED] Bike in the Delta, to the right of the Gondola rents Banshee Chaparelles and Screams. Whislter Bike Co rents Norco's as well. If you are going up on a weekend, you may want to try booking in advance to get what you want.
Speaking of Whistler, what do you guys think about using a hardtail with 100 mm of front suspension travel there? Would it be insane?

Depends how fast you want to go. For maximum fun, id rent a Stab Garbonzo, those things are stacked. My hands were sore after a day on my 8[HTML_REMOVED]8" travel dually. :(

I don't want to travel extremely fast. What kind of drops would be at Whistler?

Big and small. You choose.

From 1-15 ft… The only MANDATORY one I can think of is at the start of A-Line and its 2ft max.
15 feet, maybe 10
