Service it once a year? Not have to rebuild it every two months.

Looks like one of the potential bikes I'm buying has a 2007 boxxer team. Don't know much about it as far as weight and ride quality

older boxxers were the shiznit until the new one came out, then all of a sudden they were crap and completely unrideable  Easy to maintain too, just change the oil in the lowers once every couple of months (seriously takes 10 minutes) and service the damper once a year.

Ok so i mounted the 888 i was going to sell and took it for a night run on my Demo7 on Neds last night.

This thing is a beast! Get one! Very stiff, stable and confidence inspiring. At the same time poppy and playful. A perfect freeride fork.

agree with the majority here - cannot go wrong with a 2010 or newer 888.

Curious though, what's the word on the fox 40? I've heard they're a great fork but need a lot of attention (ie. more than once a year service.)

So I did it wrong. I bought a boxxer World Cup. It came on the cove shocker I got. It's sprung way too light for me. But feels really good. The lowers are white and the stickers are red. It is 07 or newer according to the owner. Rear shock is dhx 5.0 will also need to tune it to my weight

Stoked on having a bike again. Now I need to find some knee pads armor and helmet

Cool, thanks Dave. Do I need to do oil changes and what not on it?

Oil change appox. every 30hrs of riding. It's really simple too, just drop the lowers, drain the old oil, clean it with rubbing alcohol, re-grease the seals, put the lowers back on, add 15cc of oil in each leg, and you're good to go.

There's also some weight to air pressure settings on the lowers. They'll be helpful for finding your ideal air pressure.

I usually just do it every 2-3 months instead of keeping track of how many hours I've ridden. Makes it easier that way. ;)
Once you change the oil a few times you'll be able to tell when you could have left it longer, or should have changed it sooner and can make a maintenance schedule based on that.

that's 30 hours riding time too, actual time moving down the trail.

it's dead easy, if you can wipe your own ass you can service the lowers in a boxxer
