recommendations for a strong rear wheel

I want something that's strong and will last, I keep destroying rear wheels, I currently have flow Ex's and the rear I haven't even had for a year and it's already almost at the end of it's life. Never seem to have any issues with the front but my rear wheels always take a beating, I ride a RM Slayer, I don't really care much about the weight a few extra grams wont kill me.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I've been on flow ex's for 3 years on my hardtail I ride regularly in gnarly conditions and they've been super bomber. sounds like you need some old 36 hole mavic 321's….

I think a lot of peeps would say the Flow EX is a good rim. Maybe the DT Swiss EX471 or the heavier FR570 are worth a look?

Jon-boy.

I lost my faith with a Flow EX on my rear wheel after three park days. Replaced with a DT Swiss 570 and it's been stellar after 60 or so days. I still have a flow ex on the front.

Ha! I could feel the sarcasm coming! It took a few good slams in Whistler and now it just keeps coming undone in the same spot, I have a flow on the front as well and it's great I'll check out the DT Swiss 570, cheers! I was looking into the Mavic EX 325.

26" or 27.5? I have a couple of 729s hanging on my wall (26") that might suit your needs.

I am running Flow EX on my rear wheel now and it is solid. EX570's will be far more burly. If I was starting a build from scratch right now, I would build using DT EX471. I have these on my Nomad and they are good.

I have over 100 rides on my Industry Nine Enduro wheelset and they are so bombproof I haven't even had to true them once. Light too at 1680 grams.

My vote is for EX471s. Stans rims might as well be made out of butter compared to Mavic and DT. They bend if you look at them the wrong way.

2 1/2 season running SPANK OOZY rims and no real issue other than one getting tweaked after the derailleur got sucked into the spokes

I'm running the DT E1700 wheelset on my trail bike - I believe the equivalent rim is the E512(?). Anyway, these rims are ridiculously strong - I'd go so far as to say that they've been stronger than many DH rims I've tried. There have been numerous times where I was sure that I had dented or bent the rim, but after a year of riding, they are pretty much as straight and true as when I got them. Haven't had to true them yet either! And that's insane if you ask me.

I've found Mavic rims to be too brittle. The death of all my Mavic rims have always been due to a cracked rim bead or eyelet.
