Rear Wheel thoughts

My rear wheel is just about pooched. It's a 32h 26" Doubletrack on XT hub with bolt on axle. I'm thinking I will get another Doubletrack since it is cheap and has lasted me a fairly long time. I'm wondering what hub I should get. I'm not a fan of the engagement on the XT. Is there another hub that is reasonably priced which gives me better engagement? I can live with it if the upgrade cost is alot, the Hadleys are bling and chris kings are just not even an option.

Also I was thinking of upgrading my cassette while I was at it. I have an 11/34 LX cassette and I'm looking at something like a road cassette. any suggestions on gearing? I've got a 34 tooth standard ring up front.

Thanks
Cam.

PS. if any of you have a Hadley hub for sale post here.

thats how quick the ratchet catches on the splines inside the freehub body. more splines = faster engagement

somebody in another thread explained it, backpedal and than pedal forward…depending on your hub there should be a slight space of time from when you start turning the cranks and you feel the chain work…I think that's it

I troll shitty posters like yourself, because it's amusing to watch you skidmarks get all riled up.

yea, it's the dead pedal time.

To give a feeling, A Chris King hub has a 72 click rotation. That is INSANELY fast ratcheting. Most hubs are ~55 - 60 clicks. You CAN feel the difference.

If you want Zero engagement, get a Stealth. I am considering one of these, but I have heard terrible things.

Aren't XT hubs a lot less, like every 20 degrees (or 18 clicks)?

Not positive on the XT engage time.

I know that White Industries hubs are 60 clicks, King's are 72, and that there are alot of 55 and lower hubs.

I have never ridden an XT hub, so I couldn't give a guesstimate. 18 clicks seems insanely low, but it might be right.

Alls I know is that the KING hubs are where it's at. So are the Stealth Hubs (if you want to go silent and zero engagement). I am seriously considering a Stealth hub.

the White not only is as bullet proof as a KING, and is almost as smooth as far as ratcheting, but it sounds like a fucking machine!

It will roll faster, be easier to work on, and will click faster than an XT will. It'll outlast the XT as well because White Industries = quality shit. If you can't get a Hadley or a KING, White Industries is the next best thing.

Each hub is hand polished, to give you an idea of how good the quality is.
