Are now avalable. I have one on the bike now. Not yet ridden sans guide. Will let you know. About half the cost of the XX1 ring. And it comes with a sweet decal.

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

Hope they have 32t in a few weeks. Feeling like X01 is my answer

I've had the 30t for a week or two and done three Fromme rides so far and no dropped chain. I prefer the chain line too.

I got mine last week and did a bunch of riding this weekend in Squamish and Whistler. No dropped chains yet, though I haven't really ridden anything super rough. 30 x 36 with 26" wheels felt good for most normal climbing, though I did max out on some really sustained steep terrain (Flank connector at top of Stonebridge in Whis). I'll be getting the General Lee 11-40 cassette once they're available again and that should be perfect.

Is there a top guide that works with a 30t ring, or would the ring need to be spiderless?

i have been running a 32T for several weeks and have been dropping my chain , i have a guide but its too big so that part of the issues and the fact i,m not using a clutch style derailleur . my bike has 170MM of travel and as i get into the travel when its at speed the chain jumps off the bottom roller . over the winter i plan to get a clutch style derailleur a more climbing friendly cog set commonly found on a 1 x10 set-up

had a 30t for a week and a bit now. working well with slx clutch. left my mrp g2 on without the bottom roller. I wanted the taco to protect it , so I left the top guide on . no issues. not quite as quiet as with the bottom roller but close. wouldn't mind a 40 or 42t on the cassette. most things are fine with 30 x 36 but keystone tomorrow is going to hurrrrt

With no guide and XX1 the thing sounds like a Prius. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Hanger is tweaked though and needs a little TLC with a BFW.

Just installed my 30t RF n/w ring and new X9 type 2 derailleur with my 10spd 11-36 cassette yesterday.

Made it up Old Buck today- but reaching the limits of my legs and the 30-36 ratio. However the ride down Ned's was quieter than expected, certainly quieter than my old X0 and stinger combo. No tensioner/guide, no dropped chain, and a quieter ride! Next bike will certainly have X01…

tell me more…

currently I'm running 9 sp XT cranks and 9 sp rear. these rings will fit my current 9 speed SRAM chain, and also my future 10 speed chain and new 10 sp cassette?

yup, with 1x9 or 10 you're all good. my cranks were 9spders. single ring is the same spacing and rf says 9, 10 or 11. so upgrade at will. you'll like those clutches I think

did my first ride at Burke last night with the 30t mounted up, very impressed. i was sure that I'd be ordering an mrp top guide as soon as the ride was over but everything was nice and quiet with XT clutch out back.

What's the widest range of cogs you can go with on a 10-cog cassette? 11-42? Does shifting suck with such big jumps or is it all about getting right derailleur? Don't mind my amateur question. I'm currently running 3x9 but want simplify to a 1x10 if possible. I never use my 22x34 lowest but in steep techy climbs I do use my 22x30 ratio a fair amount. Something tells me I won't be happy unless I find something where I could go 30x42. I think it's basic math that's telling me that. :)

Wrong. Always.

I run 32t/11-36 with med cage on both bikes. General Lee add-on cogs are worth looking at. If your looking to go from 9spd to 10spd, why not look at 11spd, as you'd be buying a new cassette and binning the largest stack anyway…

JUst realized I wastes a bunch of time, effort, and thought on answering a bike question for Mr. or Mrs. I-may-or-may-not buy a new bike this decade.
