I originally thought the upper link just had a short throw before the lower starts to move, but in actuality, i think the upper link moves a bunch before the lower one moves much at all.
Listen to the audio its a gas, with a bunch of quotes just begging to be misrepresented (or perhaps accurately represented). All the stuff about the pedal feedback and suspension action sounded almost wilfully wrong. (IMO)

You mean the one about how it really pedals great on smooth flat ground and that he is stoked that it works good on smooth stuff.
But uh last I check I want my suspension to work great on the rough nasty stuff.
Dudes, he built his own bike outta $200 dollars worth of materials and a shock he had laying around. With a linkage that most of us cannot even figure out how works, but he got 8.5 inches of travel out of it. That's pretty innovative in my books.

exactly, at least he did something beyond drawing it on a piece of paper or mspaint. And he'll learn to weld better the more he does it (or work with someone who can)
also, he's experimenting with shock placement. why not? if he didn't do that everyone would say "wow, congratulations, you made an ugly, heavy vp free" if he decides that he likes the shock down there I am sure he can clean up that area on future models
