Porcelain Rocket partial frame bag

These look pretty handy. They don't take up huge space in the frame triangle but look a good way to carry a good chunk of what I carry in my camelback. For bikepacking they would be pretty cool if used with a seatbag, handlebar bag, backpack and some of those fork mounted storage options too. But I don't bikepack (yet) and think for just general riding of ye old chromag it would be cool. Especially for longer rides.

Anyone use these?

I'd go camo, given the choice. As I am kind of like Rambo.

Wrong. Always.

I use one from Apidura that looks almost exactly like that on my fat bike. Lets me use a side-loading bottle cage, and lots of room for a spare tube, tools, and some extra stuff for winter riding (thin down jacket, extra gloves, emergency blanket, firestarter, flashlight). I've considered picking up one of their seat or bar bags, but they're not cheap and I'm not bikepacking with this bike right now.

Being cheap is OK. Being a clueless sanctimonious condescending douchebag is just Vlad's MO.

The Porcelain Rocket gear is good quality, although pricey for what it is.
You might want to check out this guy,he will make it to fit your frame at a very reasonable cost.

Yeah, the price is definitely better. But it says it's 1 L. I think the PR one noted above is between 2 and 4 L depending on the size. Ultimately I'd like to be able to carry a second water bottle (along with tools, pump, phone etc.) But it's cool that he'll custom make it for your particular frame. And I imagine it would still be decently priced if it's bigger than the 1L.

Thanks for the link.

Why not the MEC one for $25

Hmm…that could work. The only drawback I can think of is it doesn't look like it comes with the foam pads that prevent frame scratch. But I could jimmy something up I suppose.

Can't go wrong for that price (unless it falls off and I lose all my shit. ;) )

EDIT: Also, based on what the pics look like, I have some doubts about it fitting on my Rootdown without interfering with the bottle cage. But MEC's return policy is damn good so I think I'll give it a go.

Thanks rnayel. You are a tremendous asset to humankind.

This might be your ticket then: https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5046-962/Upshift-Frame-Bag

$45, still less expensive than the first two options

I'm actually planning on picking one up for my commuter.

So this same product is $95 at MEC…

As for use, I've been using a Revelate designs partial frame bag for the last 2 years on tour, and it's great. I can fit my 2L water bladder inside and a few tools and whatnot also.

This trip to Kelowna was definately an undertaking - Liam and I had been planning this project for 24 hours. We worked really hard to pull out all the stops in this video. We had slo-mo goggle shots; time lapses; pedal flips; outrageous product shots; unloading and loading the bike; walking through the field with your hand in wheat. At the end of the day this trip was all about just getting out and riding with all my friends.

So I measured my root down m/l frame and it seems that the size small porcelain rocket would fit very well and leave enough room for a regular size water bottle especially if it's the sideways entry kind.

95 at Mec is a win too.

Found this I've on ebay, 35 CDN shipped from Korea. Would fit pump, tools, phone, keys and then some I imagine. Smashed a phone in my pocket last year, that sucked

Anyone able to link me to a decent DIY? Going to put cheap Mexican labour to work on making me a full-frame bag to try out.
