Out board grips?

I've been using the ge1 enduro grips for since they came out and I love them . They single clamp, have integrated end caps and never slip and are stiff and don't twist under load like RF half nelsons did and scrape my bars up underneath. I'm thinking of running them about 1/4 inch or so past the end of my bars to get a little extra width to see if like it. Im at 740 and a 50mm stem. Anyhbody else do this , any downsides?

are you looking for to try wider grip due to the fact your hands feel more comfortable hanging over width wise ?? I had 740mm width and found I was finding my pinkie fingers where not griping my grips , tried 760 and have settled at 780mm or 800mm depending on which bike I ride .

not sure where your located but between my kid and I we have several sets of bars in different widths and rise if you want to try bar we are in Maple Ridge .

I'm only 5,8 so I'm thinking 750-760 might be right on for me. I had 780 atlas bars felt like an ape.

I found the same thing when I went to 780 mm bars the first time too. I cut them down to feel comfortable. But I went back to the 780/785 mm bars a few years ago and haven't looked back. They took a little while getting used to, but the benefits far out weigh the negatives. I'm even looking at the 800's now… I'm also 5' 8". I have a couple buddies at 5' 6" that are running the 800's with good success.

For single clamp grips, you can also buy double clamp grips (my fave are the Race Face Snipers) and cut off the second set of tabs that lock into a clamp.

I've given up on lock on grips and have been running bmx grips for the past year or so. I wire them on, no glue, no slippage. BMX grips tend to be really soft because 0% of street bmx'ers use gloves. They're also really cheap, like $10-$15 a pair. I'm partial to BSD's Forever grips.

Being said, those million dollar Ergons are pretty nice. An even thinner version would be fantastic.

I found mine on eBay for 30$ shipping incl.
They got rid of my wrist pain so o worth it.
I've got a pair half nelsons and strafe sitting in my spares box…

since switching to ESI Silicone grips I won,t go back to lock-ons , my hands are not as beat up after several days in a row of trails

Anybody have feedback on any of the new ODI Elite grips? (Like a Ruffian but only one clamp. 3 different models).

Last few grips I've run have been ESI's. Really like them for grip and shock absorption, and ran them successfully on my XC bike for years. But on my big bike I'm just burning through them too fast as I'm tending to crash more often lately….Knocked about 100 end caps off too.
Prior to that happily ran Ruffians exclusively for years and years.
