I don't like a grip with an outer lock ring or ridge. I was using Deity Knuckledusters which are very comfy, and am now on Ergon GA2 Fat and am liking the tapered shape.
Ya I stopped using Lock-On grips a few years back , I just use the ODI Vapor grips . They spin a bit but are so comfy and better lasting the the ESI ones I used before.
I started wiring on Slip-on grips this year. What an improvement

On a side note to this thread, Joystick now has a local distributor to help with customer service... and I really like their stems. I just ordered a Binary stem and it got to the shop the next day.
The One Up bar looks interesting. I'm happy for the direct comparison to the Cutlass (which is what I'm currently on). I find it plenty stiff, so I wonder if these would still be too stiff. I do want to try at some point though.

I CA glue the outer edge of the grip and ziptie the inside edge. Never had an issue. Doing it for 8 years.
reading the number of "complaints" re bar stiffness and feel, how are you guys holding onto the bar? do you have a death grip on it or is it more loose and just tight enough to control the front wheel? holding on too tight can be a reason for arm pump and the bar feeling too stiff. it's the same idea of using your legs to help absorb hits - be fluid on the bike and not tight/stiff.
I don't think I've ever experienced arm pump, seriously what does it feel like. I get hand numbness sometimes, but arms feel fine.

You need to go do some early season Garbo laps at Whistler. The constant on/off on the brakes combined with the brake bumps makes for ideal arm pump conditions. If you dont feel any arm pump after a few runs from the top of Whistler, you are superhuman.
I remember vividly back in the rigid canti days, I'd have no finger strength left at the end of a ride to shift to a lower gear. Then I'd have to take my dominant hand to unroll my left hand's fingers off the bar.

LOL yup.
If you are talking about hands, then yes. After 3 days at Whistler I couldn't sign my name when checking into a motel the next day. I think the OneUp bars are pretty comfy.

Forearms (the inside part) getting extremely sore and making it hard to extend your fingers... that combined with the aforementioned inability to unwrap your fingers from the bar and having sore fingers for days... Definitely a symptom of Canadian Open and O-Sin / Goats / In Deep laps haha.
My hands get sore and occasionally numb, but my forearms never bothered me. Maybe there is something wrong with my arms.

I have this theory that we who rode cantilever brakes, in winter, on the Shore for many years have Popeye’s forearms and don’t get arm pump. I mean you guys can all true your wheels with your fingers right?
