The fat bike tires weren’t very fat in those days. 😉

True it was the early days of figuring out the tire size. Have to keep in mind it was only just after the era of what we thought was a huge tire the 26x3 Gazzolodi's which would later be considered a "plus size" tire.

It was also the early days of Wren Sports especially their inverted fork.

I wish my wife's work was there.

Fitted a Bombtrack BPS. ATC is great but for is STIFF. Planning to mess around with tires this week.

It looks similar to the Surly Krampus fork I have which has a 483 AtC and is also pretty stiff. I've got a Bird Forge fork which is a lot nicer and 505 AtC but sadly not available anymore.

The Sirius is looking good rigid.

Mossy tree lean with winter fender and Ohlins. I forgot how effective mudhuggers are. They as effective as they are ugly. Haha. Need to get the front mounted.

Also forgot how good a maxxgrip assegai is. My FS has a magic Mary super soft - it's a good tire, but maxxgrip ass guy, even though it's 40-50% more money, probably worth it.

I swapped the squishy fork for the Waltworks rigid fork on the Magic School Bus yesterday in preparation for winter. 40mm shorter A-C than the Manitou, so I also switched to Stooge Moto Bars with 38mm rise to compensate. Once the snow flies here the fat tires will be going on till spring as well.

After a slopfest of a ride last night I remembered why I run MHs on both bikes in winter.  My mates both had clean butts and mine looked like I crapped myself.   They aint pretty but damn do they work well.

Mid-ride lean on the Maverick! Winter is off to a terrible start here in AK (rained a bunch and now it’s icy as all get out), but we’re making the most of it.

The bus looks great! That fork is probably dimensionally similar to my Surly, but the straight lines here are *chefs kiss*.

I'm going to continue with my drop bar ATB project. Took off the loaner bar and fitted my own, then checked the clearance for bigger rubber...

Plenty of room

29x2.6, but this is the wheel out of my FS bike which is enjoying its mullet, and I don't have a spare front...

Do I tolerate the hassle of rotor and tyre swaps etc for free? Or buy more wheels?

Rotor swaps are OK but swapping tyres is a no go if changing wheels between bikes.

I won’t even swap rotors (all my stuff is 6 bolt though). The only bike I swap wheels on has two sets with identical hubs and rotors.

The Maverick absolutely parties! I cackled out loud several times yesterday as I exited a corner or section of hardened portholes that I thought I had no chance of making it through upright.

^That looks fun.  Never fat-biked in snow before.  Tempting.
