I spied that over on Radavist. Pricy but has a nice shape and geo. It's a shame Bird stopped doing the Forge fork as it's a really great fork.

I’ve got my fingers crossed that Pipedream steps up. Their fork is a Krampus clone, but I’m sure they could sell a bunch of 500/510 mm chromo forks
Walt at Walt Works made me a beautiful rigid fork. Worth talking to him too.
Latest Solaris Max build.
I've finally sold out on the rigid fork and Surly Sunrise bar - altho they looked great i've got a sore shoulder and they were giving it grief - therefore back on the Pikes and SQ 30X 16 degree bars rolled to a 0mm ESL with a 31mm Ranger Stem. The -2 Works Components headset is still there. I've got the Dia Compe Gran Compe saddle (c/w Lezyne plugs under the nose) on atm which is a Brooks Swallow copy - it's still breaking my ass in but is better than it was when I first rode it. I got it for £40 new on ebay so thought I would give a leather saddle a go. It's definitely not as nice or comfortable as the Giles Berthoud I have on the Krampus. Tyres wise i'm still on the Magic Mary and Hans Dampf in Super Gravity (super soft front and soft rear). Mudguards are back on 'cause it's getting muddy.
I may not be really active on this forum but still had to pop by and show off my new ride.
Marin El Roy
DHRII front and Rekon rear to replace the dual Assegais
Upgraded dropper from TranzX 150mm to Oneup V2 210mm
Some other stuff I had in the garage to make it mine: PNW bar, DMR Defy 35mm stem, WTB Volt saddle, Giant Pinner magnesium pedals, RRP fender. And a fresh pair of red Chromag Wax grips, of course.
The tires are the limiting factor; this was an intentional choice to reduce overlap with my 150 bike!
Gosh, Marin makes some sexy bikes. Those thin seatstays and the offset from the top tube look great. Nice work on the color coordination too!
I had to check Marin's website because I didn't believe at first that the bike came stock with dual assegais. It does! That is absolutely nuts on a bike that's supposed to be quite pedally - the only other things I recall seeing with that spec is the Norco Shore and other Freeride/DH bikes. I think you made the right call, tan walls and all. Looks like a great time!
Thanks Tristan and Jotegir. Yeah, I assume Marin envisaged a niche for a very descent-focused hardtail, which just never materialized. (Another option could be COVID-era tire availability, I guess).
The shop told me this bike garnered a lot of interest and test rides but didn't sell for two years. Beginners would rather go for FS at the same price, and enthusiasts would rather not have a bike that rides so similarly to their existing enduro rig.
So a tire swap was always my intention and I'm glad it worked out how I had hoped. The bike is now a whole lot more versatile, while the geo and solid fork mean it still descends very nicely.

That's a cool af bike. I almost went for a really good deal on an El Roy frame only a while ago but my 170cm height and the dual 29er stopped me from diving in. I always feel like it looks awesome for straight line plowing but my local trails are generally quite tight and awkward which I didn't think would suit this bike well.
This is my current iteration.
Have swapped the Aeffect cranks (w 34t ring) for SLX (w 32t ring) as they're second hand and the crank bolt kept coming loose. 32t is also much less daunting on the 9spd 11-36t cassette haha.
Tis fun and surprisingly quiet bicycle.
Lovin' the 9 speed. I got stuck on 10 with no plans to change.

Nice!
I gotta get over to Wainui this summer, it's been years.
I'm very jelly you guys have summer on the way. Ours was a washout and now face 6-9 months of slop :(
Get some nice summer piccys to keep us in the north inspired. A Marino / Moxie mashup pic would be sweet.
