Put the final bits on last night and today easy minus 19 spin to the coffee shop. 27.5 plus wheels for to get it running as waiting on the Hope adapter for it. Plus a couple of other bits.

Definitely different feel then the Stylus and actually kinda feels like the Wideangle I cracked.

I provided some more local hardtail guiding services today and even remembered to score some Chromag Rootdown porn. After demonstrating the efficacy of the rear Mudhugger on yesterday's moist rain ride I sold one more theft prevention device. My buddy noted that I was a lot cleaner up front than him. I told him he was half-way to MTB fender nirvana. If Mudhugger had a brand ambassador program I could clean up! ;-)

Thanks. So one thing noted when got home and took out the tape measure. The Rootdown size Large top tube is longer then the cracked Wideangle's. While it having an 18" seat tube. That explains why felt during the easy spin like was stretched out again and kinda lower. So first change will be putting on the higher rise Chromag  bar.

Forgot to take a photo whilst out riding yesterday and it’s hanging up out of the way after commuting to work now, so this will have to do as the Moxie state of 2023!

Wow! She's dirty. With mud like that you must really appreciate the SS drivetrain.

Less muddy-looking than last week - this ride it was that sticky mud that mostly stays on the ground rather than splattering you from head to toe. Fortunately rain, abrasion and vibration (and a bit of poking with sticks and fingers) gradually removes the mud as I hate washing bikes…

I need to take the chain guide off as it’s pointless on a singlespeed and just collecting mud (but I was scared I’d find singlespeed too hard and need to put gears back on and then want the chain guide!)

Spotted on the Chromag FB group. Guy in Fort Saskatchewan rawed his Rootdown and Sunrise bars.

That is going to rust, ahem, patina, real fast.

Attack it with a rattle can of clear coat quick.

Looks bad ass just like it is. I'm a fan of the industrial look on a hardtail. Hope he keeps going and does the cranks or rims or _everything_.

I've got a set of raw Oddmoné bars that look like that on the way, excited.

I don’t think there are any clear coats that stop corrosion getting under. I know BTR don’t offer warranty the same with the clear, and for while stopped offering it.

Ruh-roh. Hope my new bars hold up. I am not going for the petina look.

Some paints are better though? I always used Krylon because I was told it had rust inhibitors. Rust Tough® or something ®

If he can can the petina just so then seal it would look sweet. Not sure about the runaway corrosion approach in B.C.

Despite waiting for parts and being impatient. Took the Rootdown out for an easy longer spin. While had put on the 40mm rise bars the 13km ride confirmed that low rise bars and low front ends and I don’t play well with each other. So new bar to order.

I really wanted to raw a steel frame a few years back and did a load of research and investigation but came to the same conclusion unfortunately.  I think the only answer is to do it as an experiment on an older frame and just accept the rust (unless you have money to burn).
