I think we need to rename this thread "NSMB - 2023 - Hardtail Thread - The Year of the Moxie"

I recall last year this time it was "The Rise of the DoctaHawk!" ;-)

Haha, I'm still rising on mine

Rode a DoctaHawk for the past year and half, now on a Stylus.  For my 5'7", turns out I prefer 27.5 wheels.  Combined with the 210mm dropper, I am able to move around on the bike much more freely and that has translated into more speed & smiles.

Nice, I ended up mulleting my Doctahawk last year for similar reasons.  I'm 5'8" and the double 29er just seemed like too much. I was considering a Stylus or Wideangle switch, but sticking with the Doctahawk, really getting on with it.

Did you go with the medium?

“Yes, I need ALL the fork on my hardtail.”

Looks wicked, like the illegitimate offspring of a BMX and DH bike!

Nice EPO. I had one in my cart a couple times when they were clearing them out, but didn't pull the trigger.

Thanks!  I bought it as a complete used on eBay.  Nice build, XO1 Eagle drivetrain, XT brakes, Pike 140, 350 hubs laced to Stans rims.  Should be fun!  It has been a while since I have been on a hardtail.

Going to ride it for a bit and then maybe put a 9Point8 Slack R in it.  I have a Cushcore plus for the rear coming Sunday.

Did you stay with a standard size front tyre when you mulleted? Or go down the plus route? Currently medium frame at 5'7" and mulling this.
I'm also thinking about removing cushcore from the front to keep it more reactive and responsive

Just shows that there is no real good answer to what bike works best for whom.

All standard tires 2.5 or 2.4. Found a set of used 165mm cranks was all that I changed.

Meant to take a picture when I was out today but I didn’t. It rides great.

I had two out of town visitors show up for a moist guided tour today. I wasn't sure what they'd be riding, but they made me happy when they rolled up on two Chromag Rootdowns. Raining enough I failed to get evidence of the triple hardtail adventure.

For anyone within striking distance of Cumberland snow is basically gone from top of the climbing trail down.

Doctahawk

Here is the mulleted Hawk just before dropping into Fungi in PR.

No inserts.

Can’t believe the weather, 10 and sunny. Trails are running mint.

The Docta is looking good. Given all the rain/snow the trails are running great. Amazing drainage!
