My current ss set up ground leaning before dropping into one of the steeper downhills on my local trails, Morepork.

I saw the JKW Stooge video. Fun to see him throw that bike around. Kind of depressing because I can no longer tell myself it's the bike and not me. ;-)

Congrats Vik bike looks rad!! I'm starting to cave in too. 🍩

Love the singlespeed.

Was conversion painless? Im so confused. Thinking just pull the Microspline and stick an HG on there, then buy a conversion kit.

Nice work riding it on the HT.

I have a PB on our local steep trail - I was following a mate on this 170/160 Mega and ended up 1 second behind him.

Evocative! Trickle falls is intimidating, well done Welly.

The rear hub on all 3 of my SS bikes is HG so I just buy a cog and spacer kit to run SS. Super easy. I think there are SS cog options for MS/XD now. OTOH if you might want to use those freehubs/drivers with cassettes later you might as well chug along on a HG freehub since riding SS is hard on parts.

Cheers both.

It's actually fine if it's not wet. My biggest concern was the clips which I'm only riding until I can get a 19t cog to make the 27.5 wheel more manageable than with the 18t that on there at the moment.

Was a smidge spicy and committing at a couple of moments.

I hadn't read those Trailforks descriptions haha. Funny as.

That is sweet, Vik!

How are you liking it? Gonna retire a SS Sirius? ;)

It's a very fun bike. I've been riding it a lot. I'm not planning to retire anything at this point other than my FS bike. We'll see what's happening middle of next year. If I am not riding a bike I'll use the parts for something else.

Vik - did you keep the BFe frame or sell it?

I sold that years ago as soon as I stopped riding it. I was never going to ride that again. I gave it 18 months and could never get fully in love with it. It was just too long. I did keep the Bird Forge frame in a box under the house. I expect that will come back into rotation eventually.

I decided it was time to join Team Stooge.

...

Resistance was futile.

Nice addition to the collection, Vik!

I think this is the best looking one in your collection so far. Looking forward to seeing it in real life.

We should ride more often, I feel like you have a new bike every time we manage to meet up for a ride! ;-)

I feel the same way. I can't keep track of all those fancy bikes you show up on. They move in so many different directions it's hard to even see what they are. ;-)

I'm about two and a half months into N = 1 with my SS Scrambler, still loving it. I have a Rambler frame on preorder but I won't build that up until I move back to North America next fall. I'm running 32-18 and that's great for the mix of fire roads, pavement, and janky singletrack around here. There are a couple hills that are a challenge to climb and I spin out at about 20mph, but it works for the majority of situations.

If you go for an HG driver, you can get your cogs and spacers from Endless  /Wolftooth etc and then if you change back, you're pre-approved for Linkglide/CUES/11spd shimano. Worth looking into a steel HG driver as well, based on the gouging I receive.
