Not sure if that means Enduro is a rip-off (probably) or maybe they're better quality.

I leave you this. Draw your own conclusions...

Their Pro Fork Seal Tool Kit is nice looking.  Just need to add a 37 and 38 (okay they have a 38mm add-on now)

For bearing press systems check out altalt.ca or altaltbike on IG for Canadian tools.

Thanks! I was more referring to the bearings themselves, but that's a great link for the pullers. I bought just the one collet for 15-17mm and discovered it didn't fit the slide hammer I already own, so I'll likely end up buying the kit you linked.

Might be worth pointing out that these are two very different tool sets.

The cheap Amazon one has lips on the ends of the pullers, which will deform/damage aluminum spacers/preload tubes used in your frame.

The Enduro set has a smooth end, and relies only on the friction between the puller and the bearing.

I personally wouldn't use blind pullers with lips for this reason.

Bearing Pro Tools sells cheaper ones which have smooth ends, but made of aluminum so won't last as long.

The one I bought from Enduro has a lip, looks exactly like the Amazon photo.

You might be thinking of the wheels manufacturing style ones? I agree they are superior, but twice as much again as the Enduro ones.

I was going to buy that style, but on my linkage the bearings are not totally "blind", there's space behind them, so wasn't really necessary. Because there's space behind the bearing the style with the lip work well.

I stand corrected. I was thinking of the Wheels Manufacturing ones. The picture on the enduro site really looks like they don’t

If you have the space the lipped ones seem like they would be a great option.

It would be great if there were more steel options than the WM ones, as I agree, they’re exorbitantly priced for a home gamer

And the Stumpy Evo frame just magically appeared. Lol. Looking at your original "bike keeping" thread, you do mention a lack of self control, so at least you're 100% on-brand. Enjoy the toys!

I just built up a Stumpjumper Evo alloy S5. It’s the biggest bike (wheelbase and travel numbers) I’ve owned but it’s a blast so far.

The Evo is a great frame.  A riding buddy has one and the adjustability and detailing is great.  Enjoy and it would be good to see some more piccys when you're ridden it a bit.

Nice build on the Forbidden! Curious to hear your impressions and comparisons to other non-HP bikes once you get some time on it.

Nice build on the Forbidden! Curious to hear your impressions and comparisons to other non-HP bikes once you get some time on it.

I've had 3 rides on it so far. The first was mostly getting settled and into the suspension sweet spot but still more fine tuning to come. Initial impressions once I got it going is that it's really fast and agile compared with my last bike, an XL Geometron G1. The Dread picks up speed in situations where the G1 would not. It turns easily in situations where the G1 felt very long and unruly. The G1 always felt like it was a bit too long for the trails, a bit too big to happily make the berm arcs. The Dread shreds right at home. I think this has to do with the rear center growing so much as the bike goes through its travel. The suspension feels almost inarticulate compared to the multi-link bikes I've had but that's not a bad thing. It seems to work very very well.

It's quiet. Pedals well. I can hear the idler sometimes but I don't feel at all like it's dragging (I've been diligent in keeping everything clean and dry - curious to see how this plays out in the winter). I'm enjoying being back on an air shock (Ohlins TTX M2 air) after so long on coils. At this point it's turning out pretty much as I had hoped. Now to keep fine tuning and getting to know it better. I'm pleased.

It's taking some relearning to get it to pop and manual but I'll get there in time.

Sounds great. Have been alternating lately between loving some rides on the L G1 and thinking (like you mentioned) that it’s just too long for some trails, and the Forbidden is one of the few bikes out there in carbon that I would consider. Thanks for the impressions and glad to hear you’re liking it!

craw, was your G1 the “extra longest” with the 1347mm wheelbase? What size Forbidden did you get? I’m currently trying to wrap my head around how long my S5 stumpy evo is - it’s incredibly confidence inspiring as long as I’m going fast, but it just won’t make it around some corners without laying it scarily far over.

Also, not sure pictures of MY stevo is what was asked for, but here it is (if I managed to make image upload work this time)

Stevo
