Geraldooka - very nice indeed.

What travel do you have?

While it looks like a Murmur the numbers are quite different.  I imagine it would ride similar to my Solaris Max but with suspension whereas my Murmur is definitely a bigger slacker bike albeit with 140mm travel.

Thanks. This is a 140 travel. Jesse is a very skilled welder I can’t say enough about the quality it’s very high. It’s also a 29er which is a divergence from what I expected to be riding in general. I’ve ridden everything from my 16” Brommie to my 29+ Krampus I like all sizes but for everyday trail riding I didn’t get on with the big 29er rubber. I still see value in 2.6+ if I ever do another bike packing trip where the terrain is unknown. The wheel tire epiphany came about after setting up my old v1 N9 frame as a 29er dirt jumper, with a set of 2.2’s I had in the bin, that was a fun bike. The Wildwood is surprisingly playful with 2.4/2.5. From a geo perspective the other somewhat unique attribute (beside the seat angle) is the BB Drop being smaller than common for a 140 nowadays and the tallish stack both just right :) I have only 1 non-steel bike left in the fleet which is on the chopping block it will be replaced by steel shortly. Then its just ride-‘em till they or me breaks ;)

Couple of changes…

New rear wheel - Hope Fortus 30 with steel freehub. It’s reassuringly well made and in no way light.

New 11-46 Sunrace cassette - had been running 11-42, the extra bail out gear is nice! Not light but cost £20…

New XT chain, standard.

New Deore 5120 rear mech - I tried using my old mech as is, then with a longer B screw and finally with a mech hanger extender. Whilst I could get it to function, the shifting was inconsistent and generally crappy. New mech was £23 and nice shifting has been restored.

Will probably still get linkglide at some point but struggling to justify the expense when I can source cheap, functional, wide enough range, 10 speed stuff at 1/3 the price.

I've got a pile of 10/11 speed HG drivetrain parts that'll keep me rolling for a long time before I bother looking at the new Shimano stuff. I haven't done a deep dive into the new drivetrain options, but at first glance I didn't see anything compelling me to switch.

Same for me. I've standardized almost all my bikes to Shimano 11 speed. Got a bunch of spare parts in inventory so I don't pay much attention to whatever the latest and greatest is.

Yet we are still basking in mud... at least it's a little bit sunny today.

Finished(ish).

170F / 140R so kind of a bigger travel version of the DarMur I will build at some point.  Also I do need to swap the LTD for my less beaten up LTD.
