I think our partners need to ride together. I made my LBS include a two week loan of their shock wiz for each new bike I purchased for her there. Trying to get her to tell me if the suspension is better or worse is kind of like me trying to tell my wife which fabric colour is better for our new chairs - somewhere between hopeless and useless.

My GF would be happy to know another lady that rides locally. She's met a couple ladies so far, but she had a social group of 15-20 woman shredders in Victoria so there was always someone who was up for a ride. She hasn't figured that out up here yet....although with COVID making new friends is a bit harder than normal. 

I have to say though I do get jealous of how my GF can ride a bike for 3 years and have no interest in changing anything other than worn out parts. Ignorance can be bliss.

Like a less sexy version of a  Chromag Surface.

Building up from a bare frame gives more opportunities to make it a complete abomination too, which is always a worthy goal.

Kona Unit prices jumped a bit and spec went down slightly, not much but enough to put out the fire for me.

Nice looking bike but I am a bit curious about a few things... Are they made in the USA? 1300 is a lot for a Taiwanese made frame. The two size thing is odd but I guess if one of them is right for you, great. A 63 deg HTA with a 140 fork also seems really slack. Reviews keep talking about how long and slack the bike is but it only has 140 up front. Finally, how big a rotor can you run with the caliper inside the rear triangle?

Why not just go for a rootdown? Are you looking for shorter travel? I know lots who run rootdown's with 150mm forks and they are over $300 less.

Hmm, you guys make good points.

I have a 140mm fork, so would want something to match unless that turns into a problem. It's a 36 so easy to sell.

Short travel might be better. Need something to ride with my pro-level-roadie-but-beginner-level-MTB-buddy, and my young kids.

Plus just something to take out for whatever. Had an old steel Marin for years that I put tens of thousands of random miles on, never should have sold it.

Theoretical build currently though, striking out finding stock. Which is fine for now.

Pipedream Sirius shipment is at UK port so the actual frames will ship soon. Works great with a 140mm fork. Priced right for a quality steel frame with a nice ride feel.

Pipedream makes a great abomination. 

I've lowered my Diamond to 140, and fed it through a Works - 2° headset with mulēt wheels. Gradually repainting to rebuild the Moxie fun machine.

Well there is a 2021 & 2022 HT thread so this one is kind of a zombie at this point...not alive, but not quite dead. ;-)

Moxie with a nice front fender and frame bag! You are just a rear mudhugger away from perfection. Nice bike. ;-)

Ah, cheers.  Finally got a bolt on fender so it is a permanent fixture.  So is the bag - it's just too useful to get rid of and never having to wear a backpack or hip pack makes me want to ride more.
