This ^

I need to scratch my new bike itch without actually buying one so I ended up moving some parts around and I have a "new bike" experience. My cranks are off for warranty with loose pedal inserts, can't wait to get them back so I can try out my new creation.

That also looks great, shame about the cranks :/ What cranks are they?

Thanks. I'm stoked to see how it rides. Its not like getting a new norco sight, but it will do.

the cranks were Race face next r. This is the second set in one year to warranty. I may just have to go back to the trusty old turbines.

Turbines are great cranks...  they last forever, marginally heavier than Next and cheaper.  No brainer.  Their alloy rims are not that good either.

Got my new cranks so my swapping is all complete. It turns out I like small bikes with big forks and be damned with modern seat tube angles.

My knolly is an xl, and I seem to like it better with the small wheel up front instead of the mullet. Its 170/155 travel. I also took the ugly enve decals off and the wheels look way better now, they got a new life!

Interestingly, the axle to crown is almost identical between this 170 27.5 fork and the previous 150 29er fork yet the small wheel feels way more nimble.

As for my evil, it is a large and has a shorter reach. The big front wheel feels pretty balanced at 150/150 travel and the smaller wheelbase keeps the bike feeling nimble despite the big wheel up front. The big wheel definitely makes this bike feel more capable.

Digging both these rides still. No need to buy a new bike this year :)

I have seen far too many RF carbon cranks fail to ever consider buying or recommending them.  Aluminum cranks any day of the week for me.

Just in time for the off season!

Bike looks great. Looks like you really put the $ where it counts. Ridden it yet?

It’s hard for me to see, what you sporting for your cockpit and saddle? Is that a flight saddle?

GX throughout, E13 bar and stem, Code RSC brakes, DT Swiss wheels, Assegais, Lyrik Ultimate, Super Deluxe Select plus, borrowed TransX post.

I'm interested to try the Sram / Rock Shox stuff, I have only ridden Fox / Shimano for probably 10 years or more.

Yeah it's a flight! I forgot I sold my seat with my Darkside and I had this around. I have the same on my road bike and don't mind it so we'll see how it goes on the mtb.

Haven't ridden it yet aside from some parking lot laps to set up the brakes. Going to Eagle tomorrow morning to get a feel for it. I've never ridden Eagle, and I've only ridden twice since 2018 so I'm going to ride some blues and learn how to ride a bike again lol.
