I live in North Vancouver. Bought the tires on a recommendation from Andrew Major.
Mounted the Vigilantes on Friday night and only got out for a 1hr ride with my 4 year old on Sunday so it wasn't a true test of the tire's capabilities.
Thoughts so far:
- I'm impressed at how thick/supportive the sidewalls are,
- Even though the tough/high grip is heavy (1,400g), it rolls fast enough,
- The volume is good, they are true to size (when measured with the caliper),
- The front 2.8 seated with a floor pump, without problem on both the front and rear rim, the 2.6 wasn't as tight to the rim so I had to drive over to the gas station and use the compressor.
I'd originally bought 2.8 front and rear but the rear 2.8 didn't provide enough clearance so I had to size down to 2.6.

That was one of the many things that got me thinking about the Vigilantes as an option for MID Island riding. The trails are very very soft mud, loose duff or natural hard aggregate. Not a lot of rock and the rock we do have is slick so nothing can help that. I was about to pull the trigger when I found a crazy deal for two DHF 2.6wt Maxx-Terra on pinkbike. So far they are amazing!!! Way better then the Specialized Eliminator 2.6 Black Diamond.

Vigilantes aren't cheap and availability isn't huge locally. I ended up ordering them online and they were about $100 a piece landed. Which is a premium to what I'd been paying recently for Specialized tires (LBS) or Maxxis (TBS).
This thread makes me want to upgrade my up-and-down bike NOT to a full-susser but to a nice Rootdown with a nice fork.
Depending on if/whether Chromag does not sell a fully soon.

I scored a Duroc wheelset on Pinkbike they are 36mm internal width. They keep the tire stable. I am loving the set up.

First proper ride on them yesterday. They roll so much slower than my previous tires, good God. The traction and predictability are worth it in the rain and mud. The Vigilantes clear mud like a motha. Traction is incredible. They just take more effort to roll than I'm used to. Bonus though is that I felt more confident descending at higher speeds in the muck.

Oh good, my WAO are 35mm. But then I went and bought some HD 2.6 skinwall.....
Oh my god....Stanton makes a nice 29er as well....totally forgot about them.
As do Naked Bicycles from Quadra Island.

I had a switchback. Nice bike but lime loads of the trail hardtails I reckon they’re overbuilt in the rear triangle so don’t feel really comfortable.
