I got a 10 dollar aliexpress stem to try something shorter. It hasn't killed me yet, but I'm going to get something else before actual riding.
I'm kind of toying with the idea of trying it with a 140mm fork. I think the damper is to short, so I can't just swap an airspring. Maybe wait for new bike season and try and snag a new take-off yari or something. Does anybody have wisdom to input on offset? The AL Honzo line comes with 51mm, but the Honzo geo page suggests 46mm, though the geo is exactly the same. I don't suspect I'll be able to find a non-boost short offset fork. So it seems like its a rather costly change, which may not be worth the effort.

My friend rides his Honzo with a 150mm 51mm offset Fox 34, and he absolutely rips on it.
Ha, cheers. We're pretty happy with the slide. Keeps the kids entertained whilst I mess around with the bike.
My fork is a 140mm 29r Yari with 51mm offset. Works pretty well even with a slack (64 -65 degree sagged position) head angle. Bit of flop at low speeds but better stability at higher speed.
From what I've read, a 5mm difference in offset is so marginal in terms of feel on the trails. As noticeable as running a bit more or less sag, or a slightly fatter rear tyre.

I rode my Ti Honzo for 2 years with a 140 Pike (I suspect it has 51mm offset). I now ride with 130 DVO, and I liked the 140 Pike better.
On a totally unconnected point, I have a 140mm non-boost pike for sale. I got the crown/steerer replaced about a year ago as the old one creaked. The fork was rebuilt and then I rode it briefly before buying a new DVO and the pike has been in a box since. PM me if interested.
Not sure your model of dvo, but have you tried bumping it to 140? I have a diamond and adjusting the travel is free and not too tough. Loving my diamond.

I have a diamond too and its an excellent fork. My new bike is based on a 170mm fork so I can't use it which totally sucks or else Id still be using it.

Comments on PB from someone allegedly at DVO stated that they are is working on a 170mm/180mm Onyx SC 29er fork to be released in summer 2019 (possibly at Sea Otter). Same goes for Manitou, their long travel 29er fork is due to be released at Sea Otter.
