again with the insecurities, perhaps? seems to be a projection. odd that people become so personally affronted by changes. byproduct of a materialist society i suppose, and the implication that our self worth is based on what we possess. no need to become defensive if you're not keeping up with the bleeding edge joneses.

i've still got my 26'er ragley, and it's a fun bike. that said, if i buy a new ht, it's gonna have wagon wheels. and some sort of silly slack [HTML_REMOVED] slammed geometry, of course. physics!

Personally I would just go with a cx bike with room for 29+ tires.

exactly, why do the coolaid drinkers always feel the need to tell everyone else they've made terrible gear decisions? Boom, I really don't care what wheelsize people decide works best for them. If they're out in the woods having a good time I don't give a flying f*ck whether they're on 24" gazzi's or 29minus semichubbs. I have a great time every time I throw a leg over my bike, it works great for the riding I do, and want to do…why do you feel the need to belittle others gear choices just because it doesn't align with what works for you? I can handle lots of different wheel choice options, it's the sanctimonious preaching that everyone else doesn't get it like you do that gets me riled up.

what the pho, in this very thread on the first page you wrote "funny, i have the opposite reaction" to a guys bike, i'm assuming because of the plus tires. you put down that dudes evil bike in at least one thread. how is that in line to what you typed above.

that's the question right? 650b is pretty much nothing but marketing hype, rammed down our throats by virtually every company 86ing their 26" bikes to jump on the new platform - yet 29ers and plus bikes are the 'bad guys'. seems misdirected at best

I kinda remember, like 3-4 years ago, when 650b came out that we were all jumping up and down calling it marketing hype (and it is IMO). now 650b is mainstream and nobody cares because we have new wheel sizes and a dozen and a half other new standards to lament about.

My 3.5 yr old son has a Specialized Hot Rock. Fully rigid, 12" wheels, single speed, coaster brake. When he rides that thing, he is so happy that he almost can't stand it. When I ride with him on our neighbourhood singletrack, it reminds me that my 650 140mm modern trail bike is still just that…a bike. And I love riding bikes. Always have.

It saddens me that my chromag is old school 135qr rear end. Not that I have any use for 27.5+. But I want to at least be able to come into a thread like this and flex my wiener.
